We visited Colectika on a self guided ArtWalk tour, and were not disappointed. We purchased some lovely pieces here, at a very reasonable price. We will definitely return on our next visit to PV.

This new studio opened the week we arrived in Puerto Vallarta and it was in the same building our Condo Loft 268. We may have been one of the first to have been in it.
The studio is very bright and the art work was very well displayed.
The highlight of was not only the beautiful pices we purchased, but even more so was the sales manager, Alejandro. We waved and or stopped in whenever we passed by. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel extremely welcome.

I really like this shop. There are some very good quality art pieces here. There are many shops to choose from in PV, and this one is definitely worth a visit.

Part of the Thursday night Art walk in Old Town is this wonderful addition to the Peyote People gallery.
Hubby and I always look for a small piece of art to remember our trip by
This exquisite little creature called to me when we visited the Colectika gallery in Puerto Vallarta on our recent trip and I just had to bring him home. San Martin Tilcajete in Oaxaca is one of the most famous villages for the traditional wood carvings. This mouse is Hand Carved from One Piece of Copal Tree Wood. Meticulously Hand Painted,Signed on Bottom by Artisan Issac Fabian.

Worth a visit for unique, authentic, and beautiful souvenirs. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and maintains the gallery like a museum.

My absolute favorite gallery is the Colectika! The pottery and all the intriguing art made it hard for me to leave! I bought an candle holder with such intricate design and craftsmanship💗 My cousin an accomplished Canadian artist loved it! I wanted to get one for her birthday and surprise her. I emailed the shop, and Kevin Simpson not only replied to me but sent Lopita one of the kind efficient employees out to my hotel with another candle holder! That is WONDERFUL customer service!!! I am so truly grateful!!!

Colectika is an exceptional gallery, specializing in regional Mexican art. Much of the collection is dedicated to wooden painted carvings (alebrijes) from Oaxaca or Huichol art from the Wixáritari, who live in the Sierra Madre Occidental range in the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, Zacatecas and Durango. The alter comes in two forms – carvings that are covered with colorful small glass beads or yarn “paintings”. Both of these art forms incorporate symbols of importance to the indigenous residents. The gallery is owned and managed by Kevin Simpson who has developed close relationships with many of the artists and who is extremely knowledgeable and will spend as much time as one needs explaining and discussing the art with visitors to the gallery. Colectika will also provide shipping to one’s home. While the prices here are not cheap, they are extremely reasonable for the quality of the work exhibited. This is definitely a place for both serious collectors and those interested in beginning a collection. There are also two other shops in town showing similar work but in smaller venues. These are both called Peyote People and are owned and managed by the same folks. No visit to Puerto Vallarta should be considered complete with a visit here.

There was a big mural on the outside wall so I entered to find more artwork. The painting they had hanging on the wall, just as you entered while looking straight ahead, was a large portrait of an interesting woman whose eyes/gaze locked me right in. Beautiful portrait and it was large too!
I also saw many various sculptures, ceramics, a paper-mache type of art encased in a glass frame like a box in a way, and a multitude of paintings also.
I ended up buying a beautiful ceramic mug that looked like a face with a long nose. The artist that made the piece had died, but they had many more pieces of her art available. I also bought a soap dish carved from stone with an interesting design throughout.
