Wasn't a bad walking tour. One thing you did notice is that this area has suffered heavily from the lack of tourist. Some buildings you couldn't tell if they were being built, being torn down or abandoned.

We went on the tour of the old town. IT was interesting to hear about it's history. Most of the old buildings are fair condition although with such a rich history it would be nice to see more of them restored to their original condition. The guide was possibly getting kick backs along the way for bringing people in to... More

We took the city bus here and walked a good bit of the old town. There is a block of indoor shops that are half touristy and half regular stalls. However we found the prices higher than in the Golden Zone. Also we found much of that area closed up. We couldn't figure if the buildings were abandoned or just... More

It your intention is to visit the real Mazatlan you should stay in a hotel here. More things to do better than only stay in the beach

We visited this area on a tour off our Princess Cruise ship. This is a great area to walk around and get the feel of the older part of Mazatlan with its Spanish and French influence on architecture. Great to see that the city is working on upgrading old buildings to their former glory and repairing roads and sidewalks throughout... More

Mazatlan has made it very easy to see Old Mazatlan. As soon as you walk out of the cruise terminal, there is a 12 inch wide blue line painted on the ground. You follow the blue line through the neighborhoods to get to the historic centre. It is very safe and patrolled. There are volunteers in blue vests there to... More

Be very careful in old downtown, very busy and streets get very congested, especially when multiple cruise ships are in. Must see if first time to Mazatlan.

This is a good place to spend a few hours walking around. You will see markets, plazas, churches, Theater, old architecture, and residential areas. You can download a self guided tour or pay for a guided tour.

Take the elevator up to the roof top of the Freemont hotel. Stop for drink or just take in the view. Wander back along the malecon and stop for Your favorite Mexican lunch or snacks.

We visited the old town from a tour on a cruise ship. Fortunately we did not take a ships tour, we just walked down the road to the old town. From the time that we left the cruise terminal there were local volunteer guides to give advice and directions etc, they were extremely helpful. after visiting old town we walked... More
