The Malecon is apparently one of the longer ones in the world second to Rio. Lovely to walk and people watch. Nice public art. Under re-construction right now so it will only get better.

One of our favorite pastimes while in Mazatlan is to take an evening stroll down the Malecon and take in the beach and sunset. This trip, though, there was significant construction being done making it virtually impossible to take a leisurely stroll. I would wait...More

Love the malecon. They are reworking it just now so a bit chaotic but still, lovely and the center of the universe in Mazatlan. Take a walk, you'll not regret it.

We were on a City Tour, which included a portion of the Malecon. It is currently under much reconstruction, but it was beautiful. Many amazing statues and cliff diving can be seen. It is worth seeing and I'm sure when reconstruction is complete, it will...More

They are totally reconstructing the Malecon at this time......and so it is not a walking tour that one would enjoy right now. But once it is finished it should be magnificent. Right along the sea wall.

Both are good choices. Both are beaches. The Malecon is lined with restaurants and great for walking. Brujas is further from the port and more secluded with a beautiful beach. Either way, you can’t go wrong. Enjoy!

There is no fee to walk, sit or swim, but there are many restaurants and shops where you could spend money

No, you cannot walk from the cruise ships. We stopped on a tour that included the Malecon booked onboard the ship.
