We took a panga near Holiday Inn. It was 200 pesos round trip per person. We arrived early so waited a while; most pangas do not start around 10 am. When we got to the island there were few people there. The beach is nice. We snorkeled some. The were quite a few fish and urchins. It was a pleasant time.

Mazatlan is trying so hard to find something for tourists to do. We booked a tour with King David Tours leaving from El Cid Moro at 11:20. A truck came at 11:45. We picked another family up at El Cid Castilla. Got to the docks about 12:30. Finally got on the boat about 1:15. No directions. Rude people cutting ahead in line to turn in vouchers. 4 excursions offered. Horse riding for 10 minutes. Boogie boarding. Worthless as there are no waves. A cart behind a horse same circle as the 10 minute horse ride. Or banana boat being drug behind a boat that would be more comfortable if you rode in the boat. Lunch included at Molikay and open crappy mixed drinks. No beer. Just cheap tasting mixed drinks. If you have nothing else to do might as well see this peninsula called Rock Island. Just as easy to get a launcha and get dropped on the beach where the restaurants are. Not at the tourist dock.

We had a great day. But, I couldn't not think about the hundreds of people that we're there, being supplied with non stop drinks and then NO bathrooms - NONE. The tour is for 4-6 hours so everyone is going to have to go to the bathroom. Your options are to sneak somewhere on the island or go in the water where folks are snorkelling. The snorkelling was terrible as there were way too many people and boats. With that many people visiting the island they need to get some amenities out there, terrible.

Marina was very nice and staff and catamaran was great. Deer Island was a bit of a disappointment. Washroom facilities - disgusting. Food so so. Views great, lovely beach. Activities well run - banana boat, kayaks, snorkeling.

We did a catamaran trip over to the island. The tour took us past a few islands and ended up at Deer Island. On the island we swam, kayaked, built sandcastles and rode a banana boat. Great lunch and open bar with our tour. Fantastic day would definitely do it again.

Deer Island is not too far from Mazatlan but it took longer than we expected. The beach activities we paid for were average and food was not good at all (not much vegetarian choice either!)
Weather was beautiful Dec-Jan is the best time to go. But the restaurant was not clean and very crowded, toilets were dirty, etc.(lunch included in the excursion)
This restaurant was in a village like setting, but I enjoyed the fresh coconut water and coconut cream inside (topped with salt, lime and chilli powder) and I also enjoyed the horse riding activity.

I took my nieces and nephews for this half-day trip and it was outstanding! I highly recommend it. Evelyn and Christian were our guides and they did a wonderful job. We kayaked, hiked and snorkeled. Incredible value. Absolutely loved it. Enjoy Mazatlan!

We went as a family on Christmas Day. It was OK. Was execpting more than what we got. The island was beautiful. It was busy with the locals. There wasn't enough chairs for everyone. You get one ride on the banana boat, there is only 2 or 3 kayaks to use. We had a group of 38 people. Snorkeling, there isn't much to see. The lunch was a typical Mexican lunch. Our guide was amazing!

This excursion was OK. Took a long time to get the bus boarded from the carnival cruise ship but we did get a nice tour as we moved through the city of Mazatlan. The boat we got on was great and I was able to buy a waterproof case before we left the hotel that we went to. Kayaking was great. It’s a two person kayak. I felt very safe while we were kayaking because there were security boats. Lunch was so so. The only complaint I have is, if you’re coming from a cruise ship, they don’t drop you back off at the cruise ship. They drop you off at the shopping center because a lot of people wanna buy drugs at the pharmacia. I didn’t want to and a lot of people didn’t but this is their routine so you have to get on a golf cart type thing and be taken back to the boat. Overall I was thankful for the chance to kayak in the ocean.

PLEASE SECURE YOUR PHONE ON THE BOAT OVER!! Two people lost their cell phones in the ocean because it was not secured. I’m telling you that there is a little shop in the plaza where you wait to board the boat to go over to the kayaking, that sells the waterproof cell phone cases with the string around the neck for $10.

Every aspect of this trip was amazing! Lovely views on the way to the island, drinks and music. What makes this a great excursion is that when you get to the island you can snorkel, kayak, go for a banana boat ride, chill on the beach, play volleyball, go for a walk or whatever you like and you can basically make your own day. Also includes drinks and a nice lunch. We went for a banana boat ride and snorkelled which was great, shallow clear water so you get to see a lot of fish! Overall a perfect trip and I'd definitely go again
