Nid Art is very handy for tourists in general, but especially so for cruise ship tourists. It is ON the Blue Line (Walking rout from the ship to Old Mazatlan) just before you get to the end at Plaza Machado. They have lots of unique things, and their hand formed leather masks are really special. Across the street they also... More

This is the most unique gallery in Mazatlan. Set in a very old, traditional Mexican home in the Historic Zone. The hosts have been there for many years and are hosts in the true sense of the word, and artists themselves. The gallery is filled with pieces made in Mexico, from their own creations in pottery to beautiful decorative leather... More

We found this unique shop just off the Machado Plaza. It is a family own gallery that specializes in leather masks. Stepping inside the door you'll see them making and shaping the masks. I talked with the mother, who was working on 2 commission masks and she explained the process they use to design and create each unique mask. The... More

Not only are the crafts unique and original, the building is a work of art unto itself. When you visit, ask the owners about the restoration of the interior and the amazing brickwork that has been done by family members. The whole building is amazing, the art is truly unique and the business is a tribute to Mexican way of... More

We stopped here on our walk in the historic district. We spent about a half an hour talking with one on the owner/artists. Loa explained how she makes her leather masked and demonstrated her techniques. We purchased several small items made by local artists. They don't offer the standard tourist souvenirs. We highly recommend a visit here if you are... More

The actual building of Nidart is a work of art itself. The tapestry of the brick ceiling on the second level is a masterful creation. The art niches hold surprises at every turn. Hearts, flowers and crowns in red and silver tin decorate the walls; delightful pottery mobiles of characters and animals hang from the ceiling; artists sculpt masks in... More

Our favorite gallery in El Centro. Quirky, eclectic and simply wonderful, Nidart has an amazing collection of art from African masks to Oaxaca textiles and everything in between. Something for everyone here. A lot of really unique "wall art." Friendly bi-lingual staff. We really think this is one of El Centro's "must sees."

On a recent cruise, we stopped in Mazatlan. We spent awhile walking the streets and happened upon this little art shop. It was amazing! We both loved it and made a couple purchases. Prices were good, owners were very friendly. We spent a lot of time perusing this shop. Definitely recommend.

We were casually walking the streets of Mazatlan when we encountered this "art" shop. We were pleasantly surprised to find items that were not commonplace in Mexico. One of the items were masks crafted from leather. We had seen a few of these before, but these were just so much more intricate and interesting. We collect maske from all over... More
