I am not sure why this is such a huge tourist attraction. We didn’t have any choice in the matter as taken there as part of a tour of the area. It is a huge tourist trap. These men obviously enjoy what they do, fair enough, but then come round, cap in hand, literally, for tips for the pleasure of watching their craziness. They are not even nice lithe young men! Lots of other vendors getting in on the act. Not something I would seek out to see again.

It was very disappointing and just a tourist trap for getting us to hand out money to the divers. I guess they need to get money some how.

Ive been coming to Mazatlan since1979, andI have seen a lot of changes, Back in the day the clifdivers were used more as a form of art and athleticism. The divers kept themselves in pristine shape to be able to swan dive into the ocean . Now the art is lost
And now what we see overweight drinking beer divers looking to make big bucks, and yes they make lots of tip money very aggressively. It feels more like a disgusting scam than a beautiful show presentation. That is to bad the art is lost

Its a beautiful setting where divers leap to showcase their daredevil skills. They ask for a donation after their dive, be kind and have your dollars ready!

This was a stop on our city tour where there stands a interesting statute of a siren looking out to the sea. It is at this location where the "cliff" divers do their thing. It is a 4 story drop to the water. There were 2 divers on the rock that day and after pumping the crowd for donations for about 10 minutes, the diver climbs to the platform and then takes the plunge. Quite a feat in my estimation. I know they have been doing this for at least 20 years to my knowledge. They schedule their leaps for the cruise ship shore tours and the city sightseeing groups.

This is the point on the boardwalk where you find the cliff divers and del diablo. There are many intersting things to see all along the boardwalk. Here you can also find some very nice statues.

Some one jumps off a moderately high (about 40') platform into the water and comes and takes your tips.
The tours will bring you here because they probably get paid to do so. I would never willing come here but if you are in the area, feel free to watch. Just move along before they can come take your money...

Our coach deposited us here for a chance to have a walk along the boardwalk, look at the wares on sale, admire the magnificent statuary, and learn something about the history of Mazatlan. The sculptures are quite fabulous. You’ll want to have your camera at the ready. In the same area we were able to watch cliff diving which was great fun. What a way to earn a living! I take my hat off to these guys! Try not to miss it.
