We stopped here to see the sites. You can get out of the car and walk around this old site. Amazing site and the volcano is in thr background the entire time!

Worth seeking out if you are into Mayan ruins. Badly signposted and not at all obvious - just use Google maps and GPS. A nominal entrance fee gets you parking and the run of the place which is, if not Teotihucan, still impressive in its...More

We really liked this area. Found it interesting and awe inspiring. They have only excavated a small area so for but what there is so cool. I saw other reviews talking about being hounded by vendors at the venue but there were none there at...More

We have been to Colima many times over the years and had never visited La Campana. What a nice surprise! A easy walk around the grounds. Last year we went to Teotihuacan outside of Mexico city and my wife due to sore knees was unable...More

A smaller set of Mayan ruins, with a small pyramid and a grave area amongst the other stone walls. Worth a visit if you are in the area, this sort of history is becoming more rare all the time.

La Campana taken on its own is a decent archaeological site. However compared to the richness of Mexican sites located in this part of Mexico it is second fiddle at best. Guachimontones outside Guadalajara and Tzintuntzan in Michoacan are much better sites albeit of different...More

This was a long bus ride to explore the La Campana pyramids.  These are not patricianly tall like the classic ones, but still very interesting. The tour also included a visit to an old church and a traditional Mexican lunch complete with mariachi music. And...More

This is an impressive site. Apparently, the excavations are proceeding slowly but even now there is plenty to see and wonder at.

Was quite surprised to find such well preserved ruins in Colima. Easy access and made for a great day trip.

This is actually just outside of Colima, capital city of the state of Colima, in the suburb called "Villa de Alvarez". I did not encounter anything called "Campana" in the Manzanillo area. My husband and I went to see this Archeological site in mid-April/2015. We...More
