If you are really going hoping to see the volcano, you'll be disappointed. They seem to use the volcano as a selling feature for the tour, but you'll only get to see it in the distance from the window on the bus -- IF you are seated on the proper side of the bus! Also, the trip from Manzanillo to... More

We liked everything - we rented a car for a few days and did a lot of sightseeing/visiting many attractions on daily trips. Driving is very safe and a great way to explore the area.

I dont have a car but you can drive all the way up to the park entrance from Ciudad Guzman. From the park entrance you hike 3 hours to the summit. The whole hike you see the north summit which is lower. I took the bus from Guzman to El Fresnito which has shops. From the crossroad before entering the... More

I too visited the Nevado de Colima with Jupiter Rivera of Admire Mexico Tours. I probably could have gone on my own as I was living a couple of hours away at the time but I wasn't that sure that the brakes on my then 15 year-old Jeep Sahara would suffice for the return trip. We spent the night in... More

We went with the assistance of tour guide Jupiter Rivera of Admire Tours (highly recommended). This is a difficult hike due to it's elevation of 4365 meters (14,320 feet), the trails starts at 3200 meters. Pace yourself and take many breaks.

This used to be an active volcano but now during the months of December it's really cold and it even gets some snow on the mountain it is great place for hicking and watching nature. It is about a four hour drive from Manzanillo.
