My husband and I have always admired the famous pottery of the Northern Mexican village of Mata Ortiz. My sister and I collect pottery from Mata Ortiz and have stayed several times in Old Casas Grandes. It's definitely got more charm than Nuevo Casas Grandes, but is just minutes away from town if you need banking services or decide to dine in town.
