This market is the best part of every trip to TJ. They sell everything here, candies, pinatas, fruits and veggies, spices and dried beans, shoes and sandals, prepared foods, pottery, kitchen goods, mops and brooms, candles, soaps, shampoos, etc... There are numerous food stalls and small restaurants within the market as well. I've eaten just about everything there is here... More

This market is a wonderful place to spend an hour in the morning, lunchtime or afternoon to escape the bland concrete of the city. You will see shops selling housewares for making a wide array of Mexican meals. But above and beyond that, the colorful mosaic of fresh produce, baked goods, herbs, spices and traditional sweets is fascinating. There are... More

Very authentic market full of local and non local shoppers. Lots of gift ideas and huge selections of candy. If you go in hungry, you may buy more than you need ;)

This mercado is mainly a food market. It's always great to see how the locals shop and what's for sale. There are so many different types of chilies and moles, for example, and lots of other things I didn't even recognize. Mexicans must really like sweets because there are lots of shops selling sweets. I was there a few days... More

This market seemed best for chilis, fruit cakes, and bulk food items. They had honey, (and bees at one place!), one place had leather shoes and belts but they did not have jewelry or nice handicrafts in general. They had very cheap items but mostly fruits and vegetables and practical items like you use in a restaurant for processing food.... More

I was very disappointed the first time we went here. We were next door waiting for a dentist so thought it would be good shopping. But fresh fruits and vegtables, mounds of spices, chilis, candies and all things for cooking was not what I was looking for. Even pharmacies and restaurants. And you really had to watch where you walked,... More

Great place where locals shop for fresh produce, spices, herbs, souvenirs, piñatas, nuts, beans, teas... You name it. It was such a great place to visit during short stay in Tijuana. Will definitely come back when in area!

Mercado Hidalgo is historic in Tijuana, there is little chapel on the second floor of the constructions on the middle, sometimes there is people singing in the middle of the parking, they put a certain vibe to the place! There is great food, you can find food from Oaxaca, second floor has a cool new restaurant, can find typical mexican... More
