We are staying in La Paz for awhile and read about El Serpentario. We decided to visit and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly and the animals seem to be very well cared for. Everything was clean and we really enjoyed the birds/rabbits area where you can go in and you are right with them. And they have... More

I really recommend this place, especially if you have kids! I loved to take photos of the reptiles and plants of the garden. The director is very competent and you can ask him whatever you like: he will be please to chat with you!

We visited El Serpentario as a shore excursion while on an Un Cruise vacation. After hearing a talk about the center's mission and seeing and holding some lizards and a tarantula, we walked around the grounds and observed more reptiles and amphibians, bunnies, birds, and more. It was a very interesting way to spend an hour or so.

Very affordable and fun way to spend a couple of hours with our kids age 7-17. They have turtles, lizards, snakes and fish to look at but the highlight was definitely the aviary. You can walk inside it with little containers of food and feed the birds as well as the rabbits. The kids had a blast petting and feeding... More

Small, unglitzy display of turles, birds, lizards and more. Great fun to go into the bird house and have a dozen small parrots sit on your arm to eat from the seed cup. The biggest treat was to feed sliced gourd to the giant tortoises. Suddenly they're moving and those beaky mouths are sharp and faster than you'd expect. A... More

My friends and I spent a fun morning here with our wonderful local guide, Rodrigo Rocha Gosselin, meeting the various rescued reptiles, turtles, birds, and rabbits. It was especially entertaining and informative for us thanks to Rodrigo's prodigious knowledge, but I would recommend it even without that advantage. Feeding the birds and rabbits was particularly entertaining!

We took a Mexico Riviera cruise and El Serpentario De La Paz was offered as a 'shore excursion'. This animal sanctuary is not up to the standards most of us would expect. The animals are rescued and cared for, but it would be nice if improvements could be made (lack of money?) Those who run El Serpentario and the many... More

We went with a small group from our Un-Cruise adventure ship. This is a nice small center that we were told was mostly of local Baja CA Sur reptiles and birds but there were also several other species that are not local there too. There are several enclosures with larger reptiles and then a building with lots of small aquarium... More

Although I think we paid the tourist price and not the local price,it was worth it. For a $100 pesos each we fed hundreds of baby turtles, observed the alpha dance of giant turtles, fed birds and rabbits from the palms of our hands, and were mesmerized by serpents of all size and color. We lost track of time and... More

A visit to the Serpentario was recommended by some La Paz friends. A little hard to find, even if you use a map, but worth it. An outdoor aviary with native birds, an outdoor terrarium for turtles, and, of course, separate terrariums for the native reptiles. Appears to be operated on a shoestring, but very well done.
