This long, approximately 5 km, boardwalk is a wonderful for for walking along downtown La Paz. It is very wide, with frequent and interesting artwork along its course. Also a great place to enjoy sunsets.

First, a disclaimer: Some people like this kind of place, I know, and the view of the water is very nice. That said, I would recommend spending your time elsewhere. Like most "boardwalk" type places, it is lined with very touristy restaurants, including a couple of American chains. For good measure, there are some trashy gift shops. One good restaurant,... The malecon is a great place to walk, people watch and enjoy views of the bay. Residents walk, in-line skate, and jog along this walkway. Boats are moored close by and art is featured at various points along the stretch of malecon. The occasional festival will fill Avenida Obregon next to the malecon. If you are a tourist you will... The waterfront drive and beach is very walkable and reminds one of many such beach fronts along urban centers. Two cautions. It is a long walk as La Paz is not a small town, and remember where you parked if you did find parking!

Go any time of day....morning, afternoon or evening. The malecon walk is a treat. The view is lovely. Lots of places to sit and watch families, couples, etc. Lots of places to get snacks or a meal.

We really enjoyed the Malecon at La Paz! Took the locals bus up from Cabo as we were getting tired of the resort and wanted a truer Mexican experience. Everyone was very nice, even though our Spanish was horrible to non-existant!

Great place for an early morning walk or rent a bike and travel up to 7 miles on bike lane and preview great sculptures on the beach wall. across the street, small cafe's and restaurants will satisfy your thirst and appetite.
