We spent the day here while taking a break from fishing in May. It's right on a beautiful sandy beach about a 20 minute ride from La Paz city center. There are tables inside, or in the sand right on the beach with umbrellas for...More

This place was nasty. After visiting Balandro I wouldn't come within a mile of this beach. Not nice in the slightest. Got there and turned around as soon as I saw it

This beach is just a few miles past Balandra. The water is clear and beautiful and better for swimming. There are a few restaurants and a kayak rental plus bathrooms. Some restaurants played loud music but it was still relaxing. Not crowded. We had fish...More

This beach is not as nice as Balandra, nor is it as much visited. A narrower beach and a bit rocky in some parts but still lots of sandy areas to settle down. Water is warm and is fairly shallow for quite a ways so...More

This beach is about a 40 minute drive away from La Paz. The road is being worked on so there could be some delays. Also, there is a port near there so there are lots of big trucks speeding on the two lane road. One...More

We visited this beach Midweek during spring break time and saw maybe 15 people total, many of them Mexicanos on vacation. Calm water, soft sand and a few small restaurants are all that's here. I rented a jet ski for $35 for 1/2 hour and...More

This is the place to go with your family when visiting La Paz. The beach is long and wide. Mexican families come here with their extended family to swim, play in the sand and enjoy the view. The water here felt warmer than on the...More

Hi Anna, I'm heading to La Paz this week and am looking for safe places to pitch my tent. Is El Tecolote Beach open for tents or is it an RV hangout?

Playa El Tecolote is popular with both RV's and tenters. It is safe as the campers and RVers tend to camp in close proximity to each other. It can get breezy on the beach but is beautiful. There are 4 restaurants on the... More

Hello, I read your post and you mentioned beautiful mountains and valleys. Can you recommend any hikes, mountain bike rides or any other things to do in the mountains? Thanks, Carmen

No, there is no hotel nearby, other than going back towards La Paz to the Pichilingue harbor area or the Marina near Costa Baja. It is a 20 minute cab ride to a hotel, back towards La Paz.
