About
La Bufadora is a marine geyser that regularly shoots seawater up to 100 feet in the air from a submerged cave. Even on a calm day, be prepared to get wet from the spray. But the best time to visit is when the waves are high and the sprays are more impressive.
La Bufadora is located on the beautiful Punta Banda peninsula, making it a highlight on day trips from Ensenada. Consider joining a tour that includes transportation and a local guide who'll show you around the blowhole and nearby market for plenty of food and trinkets. – Tripadvisor

The drawback were the over-enthusiastic vendors. Some knew when to quit bothering us, some not. La Bufadora itself was impressive, although a tough walk for the elderly. I was allowed to bring my vehicle closer to pick up my mother in law, as she was tired. You will pay to park, but don’t follow the guy at the first entrance. Another 500 feet down the road is a 2nd entrance, which gets you closer.

Don’t bother… disappointing. It’s ruined by the ½ mile walk being accosted by shop keepers to buy goods, most are low quality and counterfeit at unrealistic prices. The Geyser area is not that bad with good views just spoilt by knowing you have to run a gauntlet back up the hill

Literally AWEFUL!
1) you need to pay for parking.
2) you have overly aggressive parking attendants.
3) they follow you 😞
Went with my 4 teenaged children. We did not have pasos for parking so went to an ATM. They wanted $50 to make $100 usd in to pasos. YIKES! No! So I dropped off the kids and went to the edge of town so they could experience the blow hole. I’ll drive down the narrow Main Street to get to the blow hole.
Just a bust.

The views are some of the nicest in the country. There is plenty of food and local vendor shopping in the area. Only four stars because the over aggressive parking attendants and vendors was a turn off. But views are spectacular.

We booked this tour as an alternative to the excursion offered by the cruise ship, and so glad we did! Brayan and Lucy did an amazing job of accommodating our group of 9 (two families, including kids) by keeping us together for the tour and shopping in the marketplace, but also custom tailoring the experience to each of our families wishes. They went out of their way to point out all the sights along the way, gave us pointers on the best deals in the marketplace and hooked us up with Lydia's, where we had some of the best tacos ever! Good communication, professional, friendly and well worth the money. If you are looking for a fun day in Ensenada, without the hefty price-tag that the cruiselines charge, or the cattle call feel of the tour bus , then I highly recommend Ensenada Travel Tours.

picked us up right on time at our hotel. She was so friendly and fun. As we were driving through the Ensenada traffic on our way to La Bufadora, she told us all about the city and what we were passing. (Btw, she's a GREAT driver!) It was nice getting to know about Alex and her family as we drove through the countryside. La Bufadora was everything we'd read about. It was pretty quiet there because no cruise ships were in port that day so it wasn't crowded at all, but a lot of the little shops were closed, including Lidia's restaurant so we missed eating her tacos. Because this was a private tour and we weren't on a cruise we were able to take our time. On the way back to Ensenada we drove through a neiborhood along the estuary where Alex's family live, right on the beach. After we got back into town, Alex took us up a mountain that overlooks the whole city. After a short walk to a bluff we were able to see the beautiful view! We're so glad we took this tour instead of driving to La Bufadora ourselves because my husband was able to relax and enjoy the ride and we found out so much about the area that we never would have known if we hadn't met Alex. We highly recommend this tour and highly recommend that you ask for Alex.

Accosted by sellers flogging their wares the entire time. Never again! Couldn't walk literally 5 feet without someone coming up and trying to sell you a tequila shot, margarita, or some cheap trinket. They even become hostile after you turn some of them down. I felt very uncomfortable the whole time. What's really annoying is I paid for the experience. Don't waste your time.

This is well worth a visit, especially if the seas are quite rough. The blow hole shoots water 100ft in the air, the noise when the water rushes into the cave is like thunder, the whoosh! up goes the jet of sea water. Very exhilarating, be prepared to get wet if you stand close!

Watching the ocean water spray up was amazing. Be aware that you will need to walk through a line of open air market booths and hawkers on your walk to the spot. Can be crowded if you arrive when the tour buses are there.

It was our first time in Mexico.
So we booked the tour via the cruise ship, prices were over double the local price, but it is much safer and you have a very good english speakung guide.
Traffic was bad and return trip took well over one hr, so plan carefully if you are returning back to the ship.
The local flea market was really good, very cheap prices and locals went out of their wY to be friendly.
My hat blew away in Hawaii so I brought another hat for $30 dollars, which would have cost $200 dollars in USA. Coconut drink prepared in front of you for $6, was $28 in Wikiki beach.
All in all a good excursion. but I would not recomend travelling alone.

Hi, does one has to walk a lot when visiting la bufadora? I am visiting with old parents and have limited mobility. They can walk but not a lot at a time. Any suggestions??

You would have to look out for the restaurants and bars to sit for a bit. There are no "park" benches until you get to the end by the blow hole. There you can find steps and ledges to sit down on. If they have the walkers with the seats it would be ideal. It is a relatively flat walk. There are some steps at the end newar the blowhole.

Gracias.
