We stopped here after visiting the Postojna Cave/Predjama Castle and on our way to historic Idrija. The ruins of this 17th C Baroque castle can be seen a km away coming out of Planina. We read the information boards outside before walking up to the nice stone entrance that remains from the 1944 fire. The view out over the plain and back to the village was beautiful.

A beautiful, non-touristificated, sanctuary. Even in rain, the place welcomes with wabi Sabi beauty. Amazing place to feel the impermanence of being and spen mindful moments.

An historic country palace owned by a German Industrialist family, until it was destroyed by partisans in 1944. Whilst it is unsafe to enter palace proper (though it is not fenced off) the surrounding grounds still show what its setting was like. Opposite the main building there is a very pretty walled garden (open 9 - 5 daily) with a small museum showing the palace in its heyday, also the old pvivy(!) farm buildings and icehouse.

Windischgraetz family had perfect location near the Planina village and Planina Cave. Not far from some water sources stands a huge ruin of a manor house. It is possible to recognize parts of abandoned garden. Place is nice for walking.
