One of the most beautiful opportunity to do hill jumping into water, swim into a cave and enjoy pristine waters and various exotic coloured stones and aquatic life. If you love water and can swim, do not miss this.
Suggest to do either in the morning or in the evening to be able to click fantastic pictures.

I read all the other reviews before we visited last week. The brown sign on the main road for the walk down was covered by a bush, but a lady at the Tommy store directed us. The sign and path is just back down the road a little from the Tommy shop. As others have said before, sensible shoes are required. Trainers or walking shoes/sandles. The little bar on the rocks above the cave was closed, but snorkels and life jackets were considerately left for use. We left our belongings on the rocks and used the rope and metal handle to lower ourselves into the sea. I’d recommend swimming/rock shoes as it’s a clamber out again and also onto the rocky platform in the cave is made easier.
You can only see the little gap to the tunnel and cave from the sea. The colour is so beautiful in the sun and so worth the climb down. We’d go again 😊

If you are able, come with the boat to this place to spend the day. Deep blue sea, high cliffs for jumping, a bar, a cave with a small entrance and a huge open hall.

Cool cave, we came by boat in the middle of a week long trip. Def worth the stop for a quick 15 min swim in/ out and hang. Watch out for jumping tourists off the rocks when you’re there. I didn’t climb up and jump off but it looked like fun.

I can see why Odysseus stayed here for seven years--not in the cave, per se, but on the island; the cave was just his entrance.

The cave itself is quite cool, with beautiful coloring from (some kind of) minerals, but the water at the entrance of the cave is stunning. It's so blue, and the way the light shines through (on a sunny day) is gorgeous. Visibility is awesome, or at least it was when we were there at the end of September, on a sunny day. There are some fish, sea stars, and urchins to look at as well.

You can cliff jump from various heights, and the "cliffs" are where you sit/lay and keep your stuff.

The walk down from the road is maybe 15-20 minutes, mostly exposed, so I suggest hats/sunnies/sunscreen on hot days, and definitely take water/beverages (though there is a tiny "bar" near the cave selling some beverages).

The cave is some 22km from Pomena, via a windy, hilly road, so unless you're in awesome shape, I don't recommend biking there on normal bikes. E-bikes are good though if you're in decent shape and don't mind a good little challenge. Beaut views along the road as well. You can also get there by boat, car, motorbike... There's a Tommy's market near the entrance to stock up on drinks too.

Crystal clear water with various hights for dives... Kiddos liked it and we had to visit it twice actually. It's a bit tough to reach in It's last segment and return back as well but definitely worthy. I loved the small refreshment place at the spot.

Odysseus' cave is really must visit when you are on Mljet. Please, be sure to go on no windy day, otherwise it is too dangerous to swim because of the rocks. Yes, we had to go twice because the first time a strong jugo wind disabled us to swim into the cave. From Tommy Market there is a 15-20 minute descent to the cave. The trail is well marked and not overly demanding except for the last part when you have already reached the rocks. The color of the sea in the cave is really like in the pictures, even more beautiful. The cave is actually a tunnel, so when you swim to the other side you can get out of the sea up to the rocks, for rest or to take photos. If you are afraid, you can borrow a swimming vest from the kind cafe owner. Even if you don’t want to swim, I recommend this trip because of the nice cafe and the view which is spectacular.

The blue color that can be seen when diving inside the cave and looking towards the exit looks unreal. Tip: bring the sunscreen!
