Cruising on the Hammamet coastal side, we decided to pay a visit to one of the rare Berbère « Amazigh »village in the area.
Takrouna is 6 km a yay from the city of Enfidha on the way to the mountains city of Zagwan.
Perched on top hill of about 200m above sea level, this pitoresque village gives a fantastic view over the Sahel area, zagwan mountains, Nabeul, Kerouan and Sousse with a spectacular view oh the coat and Hammamet bay.
Still under referbuishing, the village is fairly well maintained.
Beautiful day, spring weather.
One hour trip that wearth the detour.

Stunning view. We climbed up the stairs and were greeted by friendly villagers. Yet we did not know and nobody told us that it’s dangerous. The hill is falling apart on the south side. It is not safe to go up. It’s a ticking time bomb. All villagers were evacuated and left except for one family.

Because of a rock that fell down on an abandoned house, the village is cut of. There is a fence and a guard. We were not allowed to go in by foot or car. The next day I went back, assuming it was only for a day, but it was permanent. I convinced the guard that I would only stay 5 min and was allowed to go up by car. The sight is very nice and there is a small mausoleum up the hill, not spectacular though. A lady called me up to visit here house. There were practically one of the only left in the tiny village. She and her husband were ok, but still I was a bit done with the fact everybody in this country wants to sell you stuff... It's not being friendly, it's more creating an opportunity to sell... I can't blame them, but it doesn"t sit well with me somehow.
I totally recommend going to Zriba, another berber village a bit further up the road to Zaghouan. It is more dramatical and completely abandonned. It was magical in there.

The landscape is magnificent, negative note: tourist trap, in addition to having paid for the excursion we are asked for money on site!

Scam excursion!!!!!
we saw villages that were not Berber villages, half a day 3h 4×4 we made more car than we could visit.
deliver to ourselves the driver did not even know where he should go.
In short I could say tons I recommend against a tourist scam.

Despite the pious wishes of some, the village is unfortunately dead. It is located on the edge of a huge expanse of olive trees and overlooks the sea in the distance. If you love peace and quiet, this is the ideal place, otherwise go your way, the café is closed and there is no blue rock on the horizon... There is a very nice little granny who makes excellent local tea. It's typical
