In all of nature's wonders there's nothing like caving, but of all Caving there's nothing like Caving in Lapa Doce. The professional guidance of Claudia Lima is the best and with her you'll experience the real beauty of Brazil's most beautiful natural wonder: the Cave of Lapa Doce! Totally recommended!!!

Parte of a much larger cave system, the Lapa doce is an impressive site. It doesn’t take much skill for someone, even kids, without disabilities to go down a very steep track at the beginning. Once you enter the cave you can appreciate the size and scale of it. The path is well marked and the many stalagmite, stalactites and column formations impressive. Take your time to appreciate the deep darkness and complete silence if you can turn of your torches for a few seconds.

Not that it's too expensive but we learned the trap of the 'passeios' they sell to you in lençois. If you go there on your own you pay to enter the private property and you get a guide for $30 Reals ($10USD). Huge cave and we had a humorous guide.

Interesting visit to a huge cave, lots of natural formations. Had my two kids with me ( 11 and 8 yrs old) they loved it. Local guide very knowledgeable and kind. Worth a visit!

This place is amazing to observe the nature and discover more about fossils and paleontology. There is a slippery surface, so take care when you’re visiting this place.

The 9th largest cave in the world. Amazing, very well preserved and a very cool guide crew, it was truly a fantastic experience.
Would strongly recommend visiting it during any stay in Chapada Diamantina. It's by far the most interesting cave I've seen.

Beautiful, big waterfall. Great food regional buffet as well. Google Maps directions were off for me, lucky there is a huge sign with a big arrow pointing to the correct dirty road.

We have seen some amazing caves (US, Ireland, China, Thailand, etc.), and yet each cave has it's own magic. This one has some great formations, but what impressed us most was the scale of the cave (and the sandy floor).

I have been to lots of caves around the world and this one is one of the largest, even if it does not have the same formations in the same quantities when compared to the others. If you go with a group, you pay around US$10.00 per person to have access to the cave with a guide. The visit takes around 1.5 hours and it can be challenging if you are taking kids with you. But it is worthwhile! There is also another cave close by called "Gruta da Lapa do Sol" that has prehistoric paintings, but I did not have time to visit.
