Lovely peaceful spot. Went for a short walk. Small visitor centre, with toilets nearby. Small car park very busy (noon on sunny day).

There are many trails of varying difficulty. The waterfalls cut into the rocky hills are a must. Clamber over river rocks and between a hillside ravine and you will get to a beach area and waterfall hidden from view. Then hike upwards to a stunning view of the lake and land formations left by the glaciers. The Kinord cross stands by the remains of an ancient Stone Age settlement. Magical place to visit.
It was cold and wet when I went but all part of the experience

This is an absolutely beautiful area of 1166 hectares within Deeside, and a “must” for all nature-lovers. It’s stunning at all times of the year, and the various trails in the woodlands , heath, and round the loch have interesting info boards on the local flora and fauna to be found here, as well as the natural history of the region. In the summer the air is full of the sound of busy bees 🐝 and popping gorse, and in autumn the forest floor is a carpet of glowing 🍁 leaves and clusters of mushrooms 🍄. We’ve spotted here birds of prey, huge dragonflies, fields of wild geese, and swans, ducks & other waterfowl on the loch. From the free carpark beside the popular visitor’s centre beside the B9119 , it’s roughly 20-25 minutes walk down to the loch, and to walk right round it approximately 2 hours or so ( so I’d recommend taking refreshments with you.)

Great place. Lovely walk to the Burn o Vat and we also walked around the loch. We stayed overnight in our camper. Level and quiet and use of toilets overnight with sinks, CDP disposal and outside water tap. A great little find.

We're motorhomers. We doing a trip around eastern highlands and wanted an overnight stop. Found this via Brit Stops and not disapointed.
Brilliant location with excellent facilities. Clean and tidy site and clearly very well used by lots of locals (we chatted to a few following morning).
Pleasant easy walk to the Vat o Burn waterfall. Well worth the walk.

Beautiful location, fabulous walks in the area and the wild life and natural beauty. We stopped overnight in our Camper Van, excellent toilet facilities, tap and chemical and grey water disposal.
It was a hidden gem we came upon, we will return.

Nice bridge to walk across and view the lovely river and scenery.
Good place to walk your dogs and maybe have a picnic while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. No toilets or cafes for those who want that sort of thing.

Stunning location and fantastic walks. Love the fact that you can stay one night in a campervan and I really appreciated the toilets remaining open all night. Toilets very clean too. Grass, picnic benches, car park surface all in good condition.

This is a great place to visit if you enjoy fairly easy-going walks. There are a number of routes, but they are not too easy to follow. I did the short walk to Burn O Vat, which was impressive, but involved a small amount of scrambling. Also, it can be quite busy, so, if you want to take pictures, you may well find random tourists in those pictures! Like others have said, it's no well signposted. The same can be said for some of the other walking routes. I planned the walk down to the loch, but ended up on a full loch loop, which was much longer than I expected. Having said that, the walks were really enjoyable. If you are visiting at the weekend, make sure you arrive before 10:30. That's when I arrived, and I had the last parking space!
