Having seen this place on tv and being in the area on holiday we made the effort to see it. It's a bit hard to find as its not sign posted, the walk up to it is up a steep path too but when you get there it's worth it. The views over Barmouth are amazing and the walk into... More

stayed close by at Einion House and was told of the Blue Lake so decided to have a walk up, it is a walk of a bout 25 minutes from Einion House and is well worth the visit, stunning views over the estuary looking down on Fairbourne and along to Barmouth. well worth a walk

It takes a little investigation to find but it is well worth any effort involved. A simply stunning lake awaits. We visited on 5th January 2017 therefore it was quite cold so no chance of us taking 'the plunge'. The low winter sun had insufficient elevation to light up the lake area so we will definitely return later in the... More

We took a stroll up on 29th December, walking to and from Barmouth over the bridge, the views on the climb up over Fairbourne and the estuary back towards Barmouth were stunning. It is steep in places and there are some tunnels to climb through, but take it carefully as it's well worth it

A fascinating place to visit , the brave can swim. reputedly the water is deeper than ground level at Barmouth. Well worth the steep climb to get there . Mind your head whilst going through the old mine tunnel

We visited at the end of November, weather was overcast and dull. It was tricky to find. I looked at lots of reviews to work out details and studied my map! We still took the wrong turning!! So... Park at Fairbourne station (free), cross level crossing, pass church (on right). On reaching main road, turn right and walk for 500yds... More

It's a bit of a climb to get to the Blue Lake, but worth it. Please DON'T try swimming in the pool as it is very deep. Be careful on the the slate on the way down as in ghetto wet they are slippery.

Went with the family on a misty and grey day so wasn't expecting to be wowed but it definitely did! The walk is quite steep but we managed it with a 10 and a 3 year old without too much moaning. It is a little difficult to find so plan your route well with a good map. There are two... More
