Designed as a showcase for native plants and their importance to the people of The Bahamas, the Preserve features gardens and wetlands designed by world-renowned landscape architect, Raymond Jungles, as well as trails through over 20 acres of natural areas. Walk with nature in this sanctuary for over 300 species of native plants, 65 species of birds, and 100 species of medicinal plants. The Preserve is operated by the Bahamas National Trust and funded by the Leon Levy Foundation. It was developed by Shelby White, trustee of the Foundation, in honour of her late husband, Leon Levy. The Preserve is the first national park on the island of Eleuthera.

My visit to the reserve was extraordinary. Quite informative and relaxing. Upon entering the reception area of the reserve, I was blown away, not expecting such a well done reserve on the Island of ELeuthera. The young lady at the entrance greeted us with a...More

The folks who work here have an encyclopedic knowledge of the flora and fauna of the island, which they are eager to share. The network of paths is well groomed, and there are plenty of opportunities to tailor longer or shorter walks.

I traveled with my child's class. The trip was awesome;I too learned about the flora that exist i.e. Plants are used for medicinal, food and economic reason. The guides were knowledgeable and the lunch was tasty. It was a great day away!

I'm not much of a botanical guy but this tour is pretty cool. Get the guide to walk you through. You'll see every plant in the Bahamas in this place. Also has a cool lookout tower with a great view. Great little secret in Eleuthera.
