Simple stop, quick in and out. Tours will stop and you might have to compete for the ability to get in. There are some little cute bats living in the cave. Watch your step and BRING HAND SANITIZER! Because there are bats, there is poop.

If you're in Nassau for a day, and want to experience something other than forts, staircase, and conch salad. Try this caves. It is about 6 miles from downtown/ship pier. We had a tour guide took us there (I also read about that the no. 10 bus can take you there, but please double check on it). It is a cave that you can walk down and inside, and it is inhabited by fruit bats. A little smell but not any worse than any zoo. In fact, I was rather surprise that it isn't dirty at all. Outside the cave there is a huge chair that is made by stone and decorated entirely with shells. Its a good picture spot. Oh, by the way, there was a guy outside the cave and gave some history of the cave and he asked for tips for his narratives.

You go down a short stair of rocks into a dark poorly lit cave. The cave has a few bats. There is about nothing to see inside. It is just something interesting to see and will take about 2 minutes.

The picture posted for Nassau is totally incorrect; this cave is on the island of East Grand Bahama, NOT on the island of New Providence Island where Nassau is located.
The cave in Nassau is dry, and boring, not much to see there. The same Lucayan people lived there, but it doesn't have any beauty or water near it. The picture is deceiving. This cave was a let down; we thought we were going to see the caves posted with this review which are on a totally different island/key that isn't even close to Nassau, New Providence. Trip Advisor, please update the photo so that more people are not disappointed. The photo I have posted is the correct cave picture.

I'm not sure why there are mixed reviews. Heard about this place and since I'm thrifty, did the research and it paid off. The 10 bus/jitney takes you there for 1.25. About the jitney, take the one that isn't parked. The parked ones don't leave until they are full and charge 1.50. The one that just pauses on the street for a minute is the correct one. Flag them down and jump in. Ask anyone that is local where the 10 bus is, you will be directed correctly. The caves are just under 7 miles away from the downtown/port area. The caves are not large, but oh so special. When you get there, you need to walk down the rock steps and then up to a larger rock with steps. Wear the right shoes to be comfortable. Hundred of bats inside. It is a shame that this is privately owned (available to the public) and not part of a large park or public ground of sorts. Regardless, I'm grateful for the experience. The day I went, there was no one giving a tour, not that I wanted one. A couple of vans stopped, obviously, showing others the cave. They quickly left and we continued to enjoy the area. My only regret was that I didn't bring my bathing suit. Directly across the street was the most inviting, secluded beach with street access. It was next to a big condo. Next time, I'll check out the beach. Yes, no facilities so prepare accordingly.

This was a quick stop along another tour we were on. Shawn was super informative and a hoot! His favorite line was "Watch this sh*t". The caves were a bit intimidating but Shawn walked us through it. He also took awesome pictures of us using our cameras. It was a good place to check out.

Not worth any effort. I love caves and cave critters, but this is just a cramped natural room, with beer bottles on the ground and cockroaches and a slight but always noticeable urine odor. Also no bats were to be seen, and an aggressive self-appointed 'historian' will try to insert himself into your very brief visit to shake you down for tips. Can be gotten to easily by 12 bus, so at least it isn't a big expense.

Shawn, the (self appointed?) cave historian was hanging out when we arrived and we gave us a nice tour and history of the cave. He was moderately intoxicated but still on his A-game. He showed us how almond trees work too and let us get some almonds. His tour was fun and funny. He took really nice pictures of us in the caves while telling us the story. He told us he is a freemason in charge of protecting the caves as well. I was happy to tip him for his service.

It's worth giving a pit stop to. Warning: there are bats and cockroaches. When you go into the cave you can really imagine how pirates climbed in and used it to hide barrells and goods! I love a good historical landmark!

I have travelled for many years, to many places and been in many caves, but this one, is the worse. I truely cannot imagine why anyone would want to go into an environment with broken beer bottles all over the floor, the very strong smell of urine, and not a bat to be seen or any signs of bats...not worth the 1.50 bus.
