Nice beach within walking distance of the cruise port. Not sure why so many negative reviews. Sure it's a bit crowded, just walk a little farther along, and it gets much less crowded. Rented 2 beach loungers and an umbrella for $40. We also had a small table between us to share. Loungers and umbrella were in excellent condition not falling apart as some reviews state. Yes there are vendors working the crowd trying to sell things. Just say no and they leave you alone. The sand was soft and white, and the water warm. Please remember it's a PUBLIC beach so it can get crowded, and possibly dirty at times. We would definitely go back.

This is a public beach next to the Margaritaville resort. About a 15 minute walk from the cruise port (turn right at the end of the pier). We arrived early before the crowd arrived. Very friendly locals offered their chairs and umbrellas to rent, but they were not pushy or aggressive. They were also cleaning their beach areas. If you keep walking, there is an open area in front of the Holiday Inn where you can sit in the sand for free. Just bring your towel from the ship. I also recommend picking up a six pack or other drinks from a local package store on the way to the beach - mixed drinks at the beach bars are $12. The sand is white and the water is clear. I don’t know why the reviews here are so negative. There were some vendors selling bracelets, but they were polite and not pushy. I will definitely go back here the next time we stop in Nassau.

Didn't expect to find a public beach so nice. Stopped at Crag & Tings for a $10 conch ball and they offered us two beach chairs on the house. Would have brought the swim wear if we knew it was that nice. Going back in May and will defiantly spend the day at Junkanoo beach.

We were in Nassau on a cruise and not sure where to go as I am on a mobility scooter, and it sounded like that would make it difficult to get across to Paradise Island, or to some of the further beaches. So we did the short walk through the straw market and town,probably 3/4 of a mile to Junkanoo beach. The beach is free to use but we paid $20 to rent a Chaise lounge and umbrella for my hubs as I had my own chair with me because of my disability. The water was clear, beach clean, no seaweed. We really enjoyed it. Surf was calm. Lots of restaurants and food kiosks, vendors close by. But you’ll also pass by lots of little shops and even a McDonald’s on your way to the beach. if you have the gear with you, you can do a little snorkeling along the old dock, and we saw quite a few fish and even a lobster. There were lots of families and people there and it got pretty busy pretty fast. We had gotten off the ship and got there by about 10 AM and got a lounge chair right in the first row by the beach. Definitely recommend.

We walked to the beach from our cruise ship. Pros: Easy walk to the beach from the cruise ship No need to pay for taxi The water is beautiful Plenty of chairs/umbrellas to rent (we paid $30 for 2 chairs and an umbrella) Lots of food/drink shops to choose from if you want Cons: There was a bunch of seaweed/grass in the water. The beach was very crowded when you first get there (you should walk further west to for the crowds to thin out a bit) There was a lot of smoking on the beach which isnt a knock on the beach itself but is generally gross (but probably hit and miss) There are LOTS of rocks in the water. If you try to go swimming without swim shoes you will get cut up all over the place. The rocks are so plentiful that if you walk along the water and a big wave comes the rocks will smack you in the ankle/foot as they get brought in by the wave. Overall we would rate it 3.5 stars if we could and we would still go back if we were to visit Nassau again. Being able to walk to a beach and just go for a little bit is really nice. Just make sure you walk further along the beach before settling down. There is a little grassy area if you go far enough where you can set up shop under a palm tree(s) for some free shade.

We had read mixed reviews of this beach so we gave it a try. It is within walking distance of the cruise port which was nice. Chairs and umbrellas can be rented but they are crammed in so tightly you can barely walk. People are literally right next to you. No privacy at all. The comments we read about rocks all over the beach were true. We both stubbed our toes on big rocks on the beach while walking to the bathrooms. I wish we would have saved our money and went to a less crowded beach. Food is available for purchase but very expensive.

A must see and probably the most popular attraction in Nassau. We were lucky to stay at the Holiday Inn right across the street from Junkanoo beach which was filled with tourists from the cruise from 8AM-5PM every single day that we were here, as it is right at the cruise terminal. We woke up to the horn of the cruise ships and were amazed at the sheer size of it and how close it was to the heart of the small town, there were at least 5 cruise ships every day. The beach offers great swimming areas, chair, umbrellas, massages, seafood and drinks. Most of the water activities were just blocks away. You can walk to Fish Fry (just a couple of blocks from the Junkanoo beach) which is known for its seafood and rent kayaks and jetskiis right there. We negotiated and got a jet skii rental for $150 an hour + 2 chairs for $20. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the jetskii ride and swimming on the beach. This area was quieter and less busier than the main beach which is exactly what we were hoping for. We found vegan food at the Bush Garden restaurant in Fish Fry, they had plant-based burger and spagetti and plant-based meatballs. Definitely a place to visit and stroll around!

Fun time close to the port. We enjoyed our day at Junkanoo. It got busy but not too crowded . Alot of activities for purchase nut no one was pushy. Just told them no thanks. Tomiko took care of all our drinks food orders , and set us up with chairs and umbrellas. $10 per chair then extra for umbrella but it was for the whole day Lots of fun and music was popping . Beach was clear and clean . We had ages from 13 to 71 with us .

Junkanoo beach is about 20 minute walk from the cruise terminal. On route you pass many gift shop including the Straw market. The beach itself is not as pretty as some pictures may show although it was very clean. We made the best of it, hiring sun loungers and a parasol from a lovely local man called General, who was a pleasure to meet. Swimming in the sea was fabulous, I would recommend a visit if you’re wanting to stay fairly close to the port, rather than going on an excursion.
