The Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre is a peaceful 80 year-old retreat spread over 4 acres of lush tropical gardens. It is a boutique zoo that specializes in bird rescue & rehabilitation, education, preservation of history and conservation of natural resources.

Ardastra is home to many native species of plants and animals - including the Bahamas National Bird, the beautiful and exotic Caribbean Flamingo. We are well-known for our animal encounters that allow visitors to get "up close "with some of our residents. We encourage all of our visitors to take a guided tour for a better appreciation of our residents and our property. To maximize enjoyment, we also encourage our guests to schedule their visits around our Signature Showtimes: 10:30am, 1:30pm or 3:30pm.

You can participate in the "Flamingo Experience", a unique show of the glory and antics of these incredible creatures together with an excellent narration of their story. Guests can also hand-feed the colourful and playful South Pacific Lory Parrots and have numerous photographic opportunities during your visit. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while two-legged feathered friends will freely entertain. Light refreshments are available at the "Parrot Pit Stop". "Toby's Treasures" is filled with gifts/souvenirs so that you can take a piece of Ardastra home with you.

Not your typical zoo!

We were very disappointed during our visit to the zoo. Several enclosures had signs saying they were damaged during last hurricane. We had a person in a wheelchair and asked before we went in if it was wheelchair accessible and they told us yes, but after paying and going in there were very few sidewalks to use. Most of the... I was pretty dissapointed other than the beautiful white peacock, and the flamingos, some of these poor zoo creatures like the blind and obviously very old ring tailed leemer, should not be on display. For $25 USD, I didn't feel that it was anywhere near worth of what we paid. Had I known it was such a sad place with... More

This place is not huge, but makes for an enjoyable day. The flamingo show was so much fun for all ages, especially if they let you go inside and participate in the show. The lorakeets are fun, but with so many people in the cage at one time, your not guaranteed a bird will come and take an apple slice... More

Not a large place but the birds and animals are worth seeing. They are well taken care of, loved and beautiful.

We timed our visit so that we wouldn't miss the flamingo show and the parrot feeding, and it was well worth it. Visitors fed apple pieces to the little parrots who perched on your arm or shoulder. Very sweet. Not scary. We also enjoyed seeing the two meerkats in their open air enclosure. The zoo allows visitors to see them... More

We enjoyed the afternoon at Ardasta Zoo. It was reasonable price to get in and you feel like you are walking through a jungle so adds to the experience. They have certain times you can feed the birds which I recommend. You hold an apple and they flock to you. They also have a marching flamingo show which was entertaining... More

We went to this zoo in a sunday morning, it is a really small zoo but the animals are just beautiful and the staff was really friendly! The highlight of the trip was the flamingo show, it's amazing how they have trained this birds. Totally recommended!

There are some very different animals in this zoo that are from different places. It does need some extra clean up from the hurricane. Some of the exhibits are closed because of this. It was interesting to see the flamingoes up close. The white peacock was a very nice surprise when he opened up his tail. What a show! Maybe... More
