By appearances, Nassau is a poor city. Even on Bay Street close the cruise terminal, many buildings were in need of repair. The second floor over one shop had an open porch and railing that was literally falling down. The inside of the souvenir shop...More

It is much less expensive to get things here rather than Paradise Island. When at the Straw market the sellers will harass you but if you walk away they with take the price down. SO always remember, DONT PAY FULL PRICE! even in the jewelry

Make sure you have comfortable shoes for walking. The sidewalks are narrow and when the cruise ships are in it is very busy. If you are interested in Breitling watches the folks at the Breitling Boutique were exceptional. There is also a very large straw...More

Bay st. is fine for people watching, but be warned, it's not the perfect Island Paradise you're hoping for. It's dirty, and there's garbage everywhere.

Typical tourist area tons of gifts shops, no real bargains, but I will say if you want to buy Local Rum cakes this is the place to do it. The prices in the airport and online are more. Fun to wander around and people watch....More

just take bus #10 or #12 and you will see 3/4of the northern part of Nassau. Nassau is 21miles times 7miles but this bay st is where the nice views are and it cost you only $1.25 each way

Great deals to be had...especially at the Straw Market...be ready to dicker and dig in your heels. Don't give in to the pushy vendors. Just be polite, say no thanks, and move on.

No there is not, or at least I did not see one. You can ask the hotel to see if they have information.

I've always used my credit cards in the larger stores and cash in the straw market/street vendors. IF you use your credit card, make sure you have one that does not add on foreign currency transaction fees or you will be... More
