Jumbie is one of our favorite beaches on St John. Even with recent high surf in the area, we always have a relaxing time here.

This is a more private beach, so we saved it for when the bigger ones were full. It's nearby Trunk Bay beach which is beautiful but gets filled up as the day goes on. This one only has five parking spots. We happened upon an open spot, so we took it. The beach was nice, with adequate shade and few people (despite arriving around 1PM). We stayed and snorkeled for a couple hours, and saw lots of little and tiny fish.

Trunk had nowhere to park and we were surprised with a spot at Jumbie. Very nice sandy beach with gorgeous views and plenty of shady areas to sit. Water was beautiful but choppy. Snorkeling was ok but nothing special.

You walk along a short jungle path to arrive at this small stretch of white sand. The water was gorgeous, we had some lapping waves, and there was decent, light snorkeling! There are no accommodations nearby, so you're on your own for food/drinks/restrooms unless you go down the road a bit.

A great easy hike to the beach. Private oasis. Feels like a deserted island environment. Wonderful time - need to bring your own gear/food. Good snorkling

This is a little gem of a beach! From the west end of Trunk, just past the reef, it almost feels like you could swim here (but don’t because the surf can be heavy and the currents strong). Limited parking means you might have Jumbie all to yourself while you watch the crowds at Trunk. Keep in mind that parking is a challenge on all the beaches so prepare to be patient (unless you arrive early and stay parked).

There are only about 7-8 close parking spots, so get there early. The path to the beach is very short (230 feet?) and the beach is nice, particularly if you head left while looking at the ocean since the beach at the entrance is rocky. The day we were there the surf and the current were fairly strong. Less parking means more seclusion. Bring your cooler, snacks and beach chairs. The beach has ample shade, so no reason to pack an umbrella.

Jumbie is another one of the fabulous beaches on St. John, but it's a bit off the beaten path, so it's a quieter beach w/fewer people. While one can snorkel along the bank, we found the best snorkeling a bit further out, along the bank, but around the point. In the deeper water, we saw a nurse shark, Queen Triggerfish, Queen and Gray Angelfish, Jackknife Fish, grouper, and many more. Also more hard and soft corals in the slightly deeper water. Use care though - best to be a strong swimmer. Love Jumbie!

We stopped here for snorkeling and it wasn't good for that. It was very private and would have been nice for those just visiting the beach and hanging out.

Awesome little private spot right next to Trunk Bay! Nice little hike down if you are lucky enough to get one of about 5 parking spots. It's a little more wavy than Trunk because it's not as protected, but I thought it was great to float on the waves! We had the beach to ourselves and it was fabulous!
