First beach of our 10 day visit. Arrived about 12pm on a Sat in Nov and found a parking spot and space in the shade. Not too crowded. A ray made the shallows his home for the day and he was enjoyed by all. Snorkeling right from the beach.

Sunny, surf and waves! Solitude. Quiet beach, not many people that afternoon. Water was refreshing and relaxing!

We spent a little time here on a recent cruise visit to St. Thomas. We took the ferry over to St John.

We visited Hawksnest twice during our week stay. Both mornings we had the beach to ourselves for several hours except one morning when a few locals came for their morning swim. To the right of the entrance is a reef we could snorkel all the way around. The reef in front of the entrance we had to enter to the... More

We snorkeled here and at Trunk Bay during our visit to St John. The reefs at Hawksnest are very close to the surface, so you need to be constantly aware of your position and stick to the edge of the reef. Rough surf on the day we visited made navigating the reef difficult and we ended up leaving after about... More

Different type of beach--more Rock areas --so more coral and fish to see. Beautiful Beach! It is a smaller beach--so it may get crowded if you go.

Beach is rocky, picnic tables under shade (gazebos). Definitely swing in to see the views you won't be disappointed.

We loved hawksnest, the water wasnt QUITE as smooth as trunk bay but was still great. It did not have as many facilities as trunk bay, but parking was easy, the beach wasnt overly crowded and the water was still very beautiful.

Beach was nice, but there are better ones in St. John! We had a good time there and nice beach but limited things to do with our big group and no facilities to use!

A very short ride, taxi or rental car to a very nice beach. Not overcrowded and it has easy parking. A short walk to the beach --- but it will make you sweat, if you're carrying the cooler(like me). We buy a cheap($7-8) styrofoam cooler at St John Market and bring our rum and Cokes. No services here except rest... More
