Put your hiking shoes on and make your way around the shore for some great snorkeling. There are numerous rays, turtles, and small barracuda in the grassy areas before you get out to Waterlemon Cay that are worth the trip. On my last trip, we saw a 5 foot barracuda.....a little scary , but awesome! When you snorkel around Waterlemon,... More

I want to give this spot a 5, but the day we were there on a Monday in May in the AM hours, it just wasn't the best. The fish were not in abundance and we did not see any turtles. We did go around the island which wasn't a problem - fairly easy going counterclockwise. The best part for... More

"That was a good day of snorkeling. It was nuts. We saw it all." I'll start by saying my husband and I are both athletic and have good flippers. You want to be in good shape with good gear if you are going to swim around the island. This starts with what I will call a flat hike for 25... More

It is a little hike to get out to the beach, but the views are amazing and it is well worth it. We hiked to the beach and kept hiking to get closer to the cay. We snorkeled around the island, the current was a little strong but not that bad on the day we went. While we were snorkeling,... More

Part of why Waterlemon has the best snorkeling is because it's not all that easy to get to. You either have to come by boat, or walk about a mile on a trail where you can swim from the beach. Worth the effort though! Be careful, the current can be strong especially on the north side of the cay.

This is without a doubt the best place on island to snorkel. We vacation on St John every year and never miss the opportunity to sneak in a day of snorkeling at Waterlemon. This past May we saw a really large nurse shark, black tip shark, several turtles, octopus and lots of beautiful colorful fish and of course the coral... More

A bit of a hike to the beach. The water was a little choppy in a fairly lengthy swim to the Cay. The reward was worth it. Lots of coral and fish. One of the best snorkels on St John for us.

This beach is great for seeing turtles. Its pretty sheltered and the Cay has lots of fish. Its fun swimming around an island. Kids love it.

Like coming to that place that we all see in postcards. Swim from the mainland to the isle is so easy n so much to see.

It was a long hike out to a good launch point, but the trail was mostly flat and shaded. There are also some great ruins along the trail. Once you get to the end, the entrance to the water is all rocks. Be sure to wear scuba socks or something if you don't want sore feet. The coral starts just... More
