The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

All of the superlatives in the world can't begin to describe the pristine shores of this beach. Superb emerald green crisp clean blessed piece of earth...We were told it would be crazy busy b/c "everyone" goes there. So avoided it on the way to Anneberg Sugar Mill ( but took pics of it on the drive from Cruz Bay to... More

We went to St. John as a day trip from St Thomas on a cruise. What a perfect island! We paid $4 per person to come to Trunk Bay, and it was worth it. Spent about 3 hours here, snorkeled, drank Coronas in the water, ate a burger. They have restrooms and showers that are pretty nice, but they do... More

Fantastic beach but overcrowded. Cruise ships are ruining this beach. Thousands of people dropped off are destroying the coral. Money first nature second. 20 years ago this area was pristine. I've taken pictures and the difference under the water over the last 20 years is disgusting.

We love Trunk Bay and make sure to visit each time we return to St. John. Our favorite thing is to get there early - between 7 & 8 AM. The beach is deserted - literally. It's pretty amazing to sit there on one of the world's most beautiful beaches and feel like it's our private beach.

Trunk Bay was just gorgeous! We had taken an island tour the day before and decided to make the trip back. We had never snorkeled before so we talked with the people at our resort (the Westin) and rented our gear there. We took a taxi to Trunk Bay. A $4.00 entrance fee and we were in. There are lockers... I travel a lot but this place is AMAZING!!! The views are killer. We left the Ritz Carlton to come here and I didn't want to return to my hotel!!! Nuf said!!! It's $4 per person to get in, almost no parking there, but so worth the wait for spot. Powder white sand, amazing fish, beautiful green blue clear water,... More

The only disappointing thing about the beach, we only had two hours to spend. The water was perfect in every way (calm, warm, clear).

We took the ferry from St. Thomas to St. John. The ferry is rather quick, only 15 mins and costs $14.00 round trip / person. Once we got on shore, we headed to Beach Bum Snorkel Rentals. You don't have to get your rental gear here but we were visiting various beaches and didn't want the hassle of getting new... More

This is the beach in all the pictures... the underwater trail is fun, but the coral is definitely less healthy than at Maho Bay. Time your arrival on a day with no cruise ships and either early or late to avoid all the tourbus people. Had to see it ... but we enjoyed quieter beaches more. That said, in shoulder... More

A must see! Trunk Bay is breathtaking. Make sure to get there before 3:30 because that is when all snorkel material must be turned in. The snorkeling is amazing.
