Walk was worth it

The church is up a hill from the main shopping district. It was a respite from that madness. When you enter, you are taken back to a bygone day. Thank you Jesus.

The service this sunday lasted for an hour and 45 minutes, it was a happy and very warm and kind congregation. All visitors in this radiotransmitted service were very well treated and we all felt to be the most important person in the Church. I think Europe has a lot to learn from the Virgin Islands as concerns communication between... More

Bulit in 1666. Very interesting architecture. The Church's ceiling resembles a wood ship's hull. still an active Lutheran parish. Go to the services on 9 AM Sunday morning.

Located on Norre Gade about two blocks east of Charlotte Amalie’s shopping district on Main Street, the Frederick Lutheran Church, with is Gothic architectural elements and history, is one of the more interesting stops on a walking tour of historic Charlotte Amalie. Founded in 1666, the current building was started in the 1780’s and dedicated in 1793; it is the... More

This Church has been Danish in early days and at that time the slaves was parted from the white People in the Church, now it's otherwise. You will be given a warm welcome. Dress up With Nice clothes and go to this Church. You will love it. Look at the women many of them have lovely hats on.

Once we found this we weren't very impressed. The doors were open and you could walk right in. It was interesting seeing the pews separated off vs. being open (room for 3 - 4 people). We spent all of 5" in the church.

This architectural and cultural landmark is worth the time to visit. Although it is small, it is rich in detail. There is a small display case with artifacts including a dutch collar that is hundreds of years old. We would have liked to attend worship services during our vacation, but could not find any information about service times.

The original church on this site was built in 1666. It and a subsequent church both burned down. Eventually, this church was rebuilt in 1793 and has occupied the spot with Lutheran Services since that time. (The Lutheran Church was the official church of the Danish West Indies) All the pews are enclosed with short walls that make the floor... More

While Sylvia was shopping at the open air market in Charlotte Amalie I was busy checking out old hoistorical buildings. Fredrick Luthern Church quickly caught my eye. I walked inside (no fee) and found the church beautiful. Then I walked down to a open park with many benches in the shade of large trees. I met up with Sylvia as... More

Frederick Lutheran Church has a very beautiful church building, inside and outside, but the members are its real beauty. They were very welcoming to visitors and made us feel right at home. The church members are very active in the community and demonstrate the love of Christ by their actions. Definitely worth visiting and, if at all possible, worshiping there.
