Awesome!

Rented a scooter for 2 hours and was able to see most of the major attractions in Charlotte Amalie. Legislature Building was stunning. Love this place!

We popped in on a whim and asked the guard if they did tours...he picked up the phone....made a call...and a man (who turned out to be a state official) came down and took us around HIMSELF! Glad we asked! The inside of the building is beautiful!

Originally erected as a barracks for Danish troops, later served as housing for U.S. Marines, and eventually a public school. One of the high points in this old building's history was its use in 1917 as the site of ceremonies transferring ownership of the Danish Virgin Islands to the USA. Now the Capitol of USVI. My wife and I stopped... More

In most locations the center of government activity is hard for the average countryman to access. The Virgin Island legislaure meets right downtown in the capital and is easily accessible by public transportation. there must be security, but it does not feel like a fortress. The grounds are clean and neat and were home to a family of chickens, rooster,... More

We went there twice, on different weekdays, both during hours that you would expect a public building to be open, and was denied access both times. We were told at the lower level, by different guards behind the metal detector in the entryway, that there was only one woman upstairs, and she could not leave her post to show anyone... More

Used to be the old US Marine Barracks and now the Virgin Islands Senate operates within its walls. Was there last week visiting a Senator. The grounds are great for photos This is where the Transfer of possession happened back in 1917.

If you are a history buff you will enjoy touring these great old places which are not only visually impressive but the stories behind them are also great.

I think the title of my review speaks for it's self. If you're already about the downtown Charlottle Amelia area then you could stop here for a photo, but I wouldn't spend any significant time here since it's not a place to visit like a museum would be. It was also a Sunday when I was here so I doubt... More

If you want to see government/historical buildings, this is easily the best option on the island. The gold inlay and row of cannons makes it a must see

This nice looking building was originally built by the Danes in 1874 and severed as the Charlotte Amalie high school before it became home to the Virgin Islands Senate. Unfortunately, neither the building nor the grounds are open to the public so you need be satisfied with viewing from a distance. Located on the small bit of land jutting into... More
