It was built in the mid 1600's to protect the Danes from a harbour invasion. It is the highest point of Government Hill. You can walk around the grounds but it is not open to the public.

Closed since Hurricanes Irma / Maria, you can still see several of the beautiful pirate statues from outside the locked gate. Statue of the Three Queens of the 1878 Fireburn are outside the property so you can have clear views of those as well as a spectacular view of the town of Charlotte Amalie below.

Interesting. Simple. Could use more information. Admission is a little pricey for what is seen. Otherwise, definitely nice to see an in-tact structure.

Our visit was 1 May 2022. The 99 steps are located in front of it. You can not get into it because of the hurricane damage from 2017. So it is closed but you can still see it. You can get some nice views from this point of different areas of island. Not much to say after that.

We hung out at the pool bar for an afternoon with family. Beautiful setting, great view, friendly bartender, good drinks and munchies. Would like to come back....

If you like good food, great scenery, a central location on St Thomas; and room at the pool to relax, read and soak of the sun ... Bluebeard's is the place to stay!

You know you've picked a great pool restaurant when the locals come to eat there! Clams, pizza and breakfast amazing - you just have to try the Crab Benedict!! Oh yeah..drinks good too :)

The amenities are good for travelers who don't need to be waited on all the time. We went to Cost U Less to buy staples and made breakfast in our studio most mornings.

Every morning we got up at sunrise to watch the cruise ships and other luxury liners come in! Perfect place to see most of the harbors!

Also, you have to do the Castle Tour! it is really one of the coolest places we visited.

The Castle is centrally located so only took us about 10 - 30 minutes to get anyplace on the Island! We rented a jeep, which we used everyday to explore.. we didn't even go shopping, there is so much to do! Day trip to St. Johns, Megan's Bay, Kayaking, Snorkeling, Hiking, Sailing.. just to name a few!

We WILL be staying at Bluebeard's again..next time we are brining our entire family!

The property is gated off and it is under construction. I would like to have ascended the tower, but that is not possible.
