- ebm335Seaside Park, New Jersey8 contributionsGreat propertyThe beach was beautiful, property very nice and well maintained. The adjoining bar/restaurant(s) were good enough that we pretty much only ate and drank there during our 3-night stay. We were in a "hotel style" beachfront room which was four times the size of a typical hotel room. Housekeeping visited every day. Had a full kitchen. Zero complaints.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 October 2023
- Russell P3 contributionsSecret Harbour is a must visit for beach day or water excursion!Quiet and Relaxing cove on St. Thomas. Stayed beach front and enjoyed a full week of activities on and off resort. SHBR Staff at Resort are GREAT! Aqua Action Dive shop on site has lots of water activities available for all level of enthusiast. On site bar and food are top shelf. Recommend the Cuban sandwich and the Classico pizza, but cant go wrong with any choice. Bar Tenders and Wait staff are quick to serve whatever you are looking for. Too many great drinks to pick just one. Just mention what your tastebuds feel like and they will have recommendations that wont disappoint. Beach is amazing with resort supplied chairs, towels and umbrellas for those staying at SHBR. Snorkeling in the cove is a must with full rental line at Aqua Action Dive Shop. Looking for water excursions, Aqua Action has great selections from beginner to Advanced. Shout out to Rudy at AA for a great boat excursion experience.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 January 2024
- Steve StefanyGaithersburg, Maryland23 contributionsA tucked away gem of a beach resortA tucked away gem of a beach resort Feb 2024 • Couples Another great annual trip to Secret Harbour. We continue to pick Secret Harbour for our winter getaway. Tucked away on the eastern side of the island, this beach is tops for snorkeling, water calmness, and aquatic amenities like scuba and off shore snorkeling. The food is great and the staff is friendly and serving. Plenty of shade provided by either the palm trees or umbrellas. Very relaxing. Assistant manager Elis is the best.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2024
- mart38655213 contributionsGreat Beach DayVery nice family beach, not as crowded as most beaches on St Thomas. Chairs for rent, but we carried our own and set up under palm trees for shade. Water was calm enough for small children, sand was nice, several areas in water for snorkleing. We saw lots of fish and a few stingrays. Restaurant and bar for drinks and food. Recommended.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 February 2024
- HarlenWhitby, Canada2 contributionsBeach day off of the cruise shipWe did some research and found this gem of a beach which is much quieter, friendly atmosphere, dive shop and restaurant right on the beach and decent snorkeling. We have been to Magen’s and Sapphire before and each was so-so. Very happy we found this location for a perfect day at the beach!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 March 2024
- Lauren L19 contributionsA Hidden GemGreat little beach that is a hidden gem! After hearing from several locals and a friend that we should visit this beach, we went for it and were not disappointed! We arrived by taxi and immediately went to the dive shop. While there is a resort there, anyone can use the beach and the dive shop has chairs and umbrellas for rent. The complete package was $35 for two chairs and an umbrella. After setting up on this quiet beach, we got in the water and saw sea turtles and a huge sting ray! It was so cool! A few people beside us saw an octopus, too! There is a restaurant there called the Sunset Grille with a full kitchen and bar. Great for an afternoon snack!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 March 2024
- Byron G2 contributionsOverall very goodStaff was very friendly food was great, beautiful beach except the bartenders. They all seemed pretty miserable and more interested in interacting with the local trash that hangs out at the bar. Not a family environment at the bar more like a place to score some coke.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 17 June 2024
- Krista P2 contributions10/10 for Secret HarborEveryone in our group loved Secret Harbor. It was the perfect combo of city and country. It has a nice bar/restaurant/bathroom facilities but is absolutely gorgeous with crystal clear water and excellent snorkeling. The beach chairs/umbrellas were a nice bonus. Some are paid spots and others are open for free use. It wasn’t crowded and we had lots of room to ourselves. If you’re driving in, enter the resort and go past the restaurant. Then drive to the very top of the hill (go further than you’d expect) and park behind the tennis courts. Walk down the hill, pass through the parking lot and cut through the buildings. The beach is just on the other side of the buildings. We visited multiple beaches on both St Thomas and St John and Secret Harbor was the favorite out of all of them.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 July 2024

I have been trying to pre-book a taxi to Secret Harbour when I arrive on my cruise, however I am receiving absolutely no communication at at all from the various taxi company's I have contacted. Is there plenty of taxi available on cruise days at the port?Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 10 August 2024

There is some pretty good snorkeling off to the right. We ate at the bar. Brad the bar tender is awesome. Sorta a wise A@# but we dig that. The food here was amazing. Best Cuban sandwich I ever had.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 September 2024

We came as a family. We had 3 different condos. I will say the grounds are beautiful and well cared for. I wish they would put some of that care into the condos. Each of the condos needed a deep cleaning. They use grey water in the toilets and it looks like someone before you has used it and not flushed. I cleaned the shower myself, since the housekeeper didn't. Each of the condos needs some major TLC.
When they have food it is good and the service was excellent. The restaurant ran out of food one night, but rather than just closing they let people sit and wait at the tables.
If it rains the outdoor staff just goes home, so no clean dry towels or beach service for the rest of the day.

They seriously need to learn about customer service. All front desk people were very unfriendly and frankly mean! For a hotel with this price tag it was so sub-standard and we constantly felt ripped off. Our shower had black mold, our air conditioner didn't work for 2 days, the beach towels were thin and stained, the base of the beach umbrellas were littered with cigar butts and empty drink glasses and there were bottle caps and cigarette butts on the beach. We had someone clean our room who left our door wide open for at least 5 full minutes, maybe longer and she was very annoyed when I said something. And don't get me started on the taxi scam! I honestly believe that the taxi drivers were relatives of the front desk people. Our fair from the airport to the hotel in a random taxi not associated with the hotel was $30. Our return to the airport with their driver was $50. And the front desk staff was not too happy when you asked them to call you a cab when one of their people were not stationed outside. At this price point we expected some luxury features. This hotel is only worth $250 a night and I'm being generous, not almost $600. Total rip off!!! The only redeeming quality was the lovely location. The cove was very pretty.

My husband and I just returned from Secret Harbour and stayed in Unit 723. We usually do not write reviews however the accommodations were such that we felt it necessary that you know our experience.
We could not open the patio door, the screen door was ripped, there were cockroaches in the bathroom, our room was not cleaned on Friday the 24th. I took pictures. Some of the staff in the restaurant and at the front desk acted like they could not be bothered and were definitely not customer friendly.
Lastly, the unit was very dated (1970’s). When one takes the vacation time, pays to fly to a location, chooses a location and trusts to receive what we paid for at over $550 per night, I can honestly say I feel like I was hoodwinked.
I don’t know what other units look like at Secret Harbor but unit 723 should not be available.

Parking is behind the resort up the hill by the tennis courts. You walk back down and between the resort buildings to reach the beach. There are no formal showers or facilities, as this beach is primarily used by the resort guests, but on the right side of the beach the restaurant has bathrooms that work well as changing facilites. There is decent snorkeling on the left and right sides as well as some in the middle between the moored boats. Not as lively or diverse coral and fish as some other beaches on the island like Megan's Bay. Watch out for the rocks - they rise abruptly from the sea floor and are easy to bump into if you lose situational awareness. The chairs are also only for resort guests. Best sightings today were a lobster, and a couple large crabs in conch shells.

Not secret and not so great. I can see how if you lived there that it would be a nice place. However, to take a day out of your vacation, this is what you would get. It does have turquoise blue water, but so do all the beaches. It has extremely calm water...not even a little lift or wave. Good if you are a baby, but didn't see any. Saw only adults. Very few fish, so snorkeling would be rated a poor!!!! One guy said it used to be great before the hurricane 3 years ago, but the reef has never built back.

Beautiful beach with very nice snorkeling. This relatively small beach has a nice variety of underwater topography (sand, coral & seagrass areas) that had a good variety of fish, rays & turtles to see in a relatively compact location. The big drawback is the incredibly LIMITED parking (most of the parking is reserved for the resort & restaurant). A very good beach for beginner snorkeling.

My spouse and I have been to most the beaches on St Thomas. This is our second favorite beach (nothing beats Magen's Bay Beach), and our favorite for snorkeling. From the cruise port, a safari bus cost $10 a person one-way, September 2022 prices. (Be aware that there are not as many buses/taxis returning as there are for Magen's Bay. You may have to call, so get a card when you are dropped off and plan your time accordingly.) Snorkeling is good in this location, particularly on the shallower left hand side of the bay. There is a nice floating dock to sit on or jump off. The open-air bar/restaurant is right on the beach. It has beautiful views, and it serves reasonably priced drinks ($5 beers and $10 frozen drinks). This is a local's hang-out beach, and they are usually happy to provide you information about the island.

We (mom, dad, daughter) were on St Thomas for the week. They had the Christmas Winds come in and the North side was getting a lot of waves. We needed a calmer area to snorkel and swim and we found Secret Harbour Beach. Being on the Southern side of the Island, it was calm and beautiful. We swam and snorkeled. There is a restaurant on the beach as well so we had what we needed for the beach visit. The beach is gorgeous and smaller but we liked that. Getting here is super easy as well. The only problem is that there is hardly any parking and you have to be able to handle your vehicle. That's rue on this island anyway. It was a perfect visit for us 3 and we would go back.

We stopped in St. Thomas on our Disney Cruise and wanted a good beach for kids…this did not disappoint! $10 per person each way cab ride from the port. We got there early (around 9) and were able to rent chairs and an umbrella on the far end of the beach from the dive shop. This was a great beach for our kids (age 4 and 7). The beach was a little rocky from the recent storm but the water was clear and calm which made for good swimming for the kids. The snorkeling was amazing! Our son had a blast snorkeling for the first time. It was nice to have access to bathrooms and food/drinks from the dive shop and restaurant. It was not very busy despite several large cruise ships being in port that day. The views were beautiful! I would not hesitate to return to Secret Harbor. I’ve never been to Magen’s bay but was looking for a beautiful beach with amenities and snorkeling and Secret Harbor met all of our needs.

Our Airbnb was located near Secret Harbour where we swam and snorkeled. The water is calm and cooler. We snorkeled where we saw turtles, corals, fish, sea rays, octopus and more. We found it to be the best place for snorkeling. There is a restaurant and bar on the beach where you can enjoy a nice cocktail.

It this a public beach, or is it only open to guests of Secret Harbor Beach resort? We are looking at staying at another hotel in Nazareth that is not beachfront, and are wondering if we would be able to go to the beach here or not.

Hi, Is it possible to get a boat from Secret Harbour to snorkel on Buck Island? If so how much? We are a family of 4 with 11 year old boys. Is it too far to Kayak?

Once we arrive by taxi from the airport, is there a lot to do in walking distance or should we rent a car? Is there Uber?
Written 23 June 2019
It’s not really safe (because of cars) to walk on the winding roads near the hotel, but anything at Red Hook would otherwise be an easy walk for you. Secret Harbor is isolated, secluded, all of that. Rent a car if you like, but the hotel can get you a taxi in just a few minutes, and the drivers are all full of island stories if you are interested in talking with them, plus they are used to driving on the left!

How much is a cab ride from the cruise ship port to Secret Harbor? Is the snorkeling good?

How much was the cab ride to get to Secret Harbor. We are coming in on a cruise ship. Did you have a hard time getting a cab back?

I was there last Dec, it was great everybody was snorkeling great place to dive very nice reef.

We are coming in by cruiseship and will have a whole day. We are thinking of doing a visit to several of the beaches and I am wondering if someone can recommend a starting order so we can do somewhat of a loop out and back. So if any of the beaches are relatively close by and easy to get from one to another before heading back to the ship that would be great. Also is it best to travel by taxi or use local bus?
Written 17 December 2018
I'm not sure order matters necessarily due to relatively close proximity and easily accessible cabs/buses. I would recommend hitting Magen's bay earlier before the crowd as it is a little further away but great to see/snorkel. I would also recommend Sapphire if you'd like to have some lunch or a drink and have a busier atmosphere. I love Secret harbor and it would be a great place to wrap up. Thankfully it's peaceful, has a shower, and there's a restaurant called sunset grille right in the entrance so you could grab a drink or bite as you head back to the ship. I made these recs on the assumption that if you're coming off a boat you may not have a lot of "supplies" and might want some shade and or refreshments throughout the day. If this is irrelevant for you, the natural beaches are all wonderful and offer some amentities as well. Have fun!
