A very interesting and generally well-preserved Danish fort from the pre-WW1 colonial period. Great interpretive room near the entrance with video and wall placards explaining the history of St Croix and its people, industries and politics.

I highly recommend that you go on a tour. The Ranger does a great job of giving you information and it is much more interesting to take the tour than it is to just walk around find out a lot of information that you wouldn’t otherwise.

While in the fort you have some pretty awesome views! We took our two year old so we made a pretty quick trip to the fort. The employees were more than happy to answer any questions we have. There is a lot of uneven surfaces and stairs so use caution if you have very little ones or trouble with balance/walking. A lot of grassy area around the fort which is perfect for kids to run and for a picnic.

This is well worth the time to tour. You're given a folder with info about the fort and its history and can walk around at your own pace. Don't forget the other buildings nearby. It was interesting to learn about the history of both the fort and the island in general. There is a paid parking lot here.

We stopped by this fort as part of a self-guided historic walking tour and walked through on our way to other points of interest. The views from the highest point of the fort are just beautiful. There are plenty of sign to guide you as you take in the many uses the fort once had.
It's a national historic site and the oldest structure on St. Croix and It's a great way to absorb some of the island's history.

There is a lot of history in this museum- very interesting but doesn’t take more than an hour to see everything. Beautiful views from the fort and right on the boardwalk with shops and restaurants.

After driving by a few times on our visit we finally took the time to walk through the fort and am glad we did! Excellent way to learn the history of the island and its people groups. Somber moments reflecting on the hardships and injustices during and after slavery. This is a small fort and doesn't take long to go through...well worth the time!

We enjoyed visiting the fort. We learned about the history of the island over the many years, including when STX was purchased by the USA.
