About
Leeward Beach is a spectacular beach, with far less of a crowd than Grace Bay. Beach accesses are a bit limited and difficult to find. The shearwater close access point also known as Sunset Beach is phenomenal for Sunset & also where The premier Clear kayak photoshoot company Turks ventures by Drex for their Trending Drone Photoshoot. This access also offers the best beach and water conditions.

Dont try to Snorkel because the water is murky in this area . wear water shoes , a few rocks on beach floor. Our Air BnB was almost walking distance , we would come to watch the sunset every evening , it was lovely . you can set up your tripod and take ton's of photos. not a lot of people come here . it's located by a neiborhood of houses . - Valerie099Moncton, Canada46 contributionsEver wanted a beach to yourself? We were staying in Leeward for a week and walked the 2 blocks to this beach daily. The beach is beautiful, long and barely a soul ever on it. The sunsets are amazing, and the colour and hues of the water with so many variations of blue were absolutely spectacular. - OSU_Fan1967Dublin, Ohio328 contributionsOur favorite TCI beach! We visited this beach several times during our weeklong stay on TCI and it was our favorite. We rented a villa in the Leeward community a few blocks from the sunset beach access point and took advantage of it's proximity. Most days we had the beach almost entirely to ourselves with never more than 10-20 other people on the entire length of the beach. The water color and clarity are amazing. There are even a few minor snorkeling areas near the access point. We loved this beach and highly recommend!Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 June 2024

Amazing views with unbelievable colours, wonderful swimming in mostly calm, crystal clear water, just the right temperature. This beach is clean and lovely, some shade available and very few people on it. We entered right across from the first Leeward Palms subdivision sign, walking or driving down a sandy ‘road’ through an abandoned resort - to the west of the public access. No facilities, a few places you can park. Sad to see so much garbage along the road in, but that seems the case everywhere on Providenciales…beaches are mostly clean but underdeveloped areas are strewn with litter. As for Providenciales, as a vacation spot, probably best to stay in a resort (we didn’t) as there is nothing to do off the beach, food is generally only fair, sometimes poor, and always crazy expensive. Residents are courteous and friendly, seems relatively safe to go anywhere though you must watch for stray dogs.

It is rocky but beautiful. We saw lots of boats, including sail boats. There are tons of rocks and crabs. We saw a bunch of trash that had floated up during high tide. During low tide you can walk a short ways. It faces the sunset so it is amazing for beach pictures. We enjoyed our time there.

When visiting Grace Bay Beach don’t forget to check out the Leeward portion. It’s beautiful!
There is plenty of free parking at Sunset Beach at the start of the Leeward section. Just be aware there are no bathroom facilities. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent, though.
If you prefer to be based near a bathroom, bar, and restaurant when going to a beach that is not a problem. You can park at Flamingo Cafe for free (it’s right on the beach) between Ocean Club resort and Club Med. Set up base camp there and walk along the beach for about fifteen minutes. It is a beautiful stretch of beach and makes for a fantastic stroll in bare feet in the soft white sand.
Hint: To explore the Leeward section fully start walking the beach an hour before low tide to be able to get from Sunset Beach to Pelican Beach and Pelican Beach to the point. Make sure to turn around and return within 60 minutes of your walk.

Just a reminder to please read the crime reports for the island. You can find out about the increasing crime rate at the more secluded beaches in the online newspapers. We've had some bad incidents at this beach and other somewhat secluded beaches. So please be careful. Don't go here too early in the day or late in the day as it is known for crime, according to both our experiences there, the newspapers, and the locals who we are friends with. I would NOT take my young children here for that reason.

Nice beach like many of the beaches on the island. However, it is out of the way and take some effort to get to, so it is very secluded. We were robbed at knife point in March of 2016 and it was kind of scary with very little police presence on island. The police they do have try hard. However, there is just too much area for them to cover. Just please be safe, stay around your resort or home when it starts getting dark, and stay away from secluded places as they make you an easier target. There are many beautiful beaches on island, so find some that are not so secluded.

Leeward Landing is right over by this beach. AS in steps...An attorney from New York was visiting with his family....and his rented house..with security guard..and security system..a very HIGH END home..could not keep the bad guys out. He was shot as he tried to keep them from entering and harming his family. Due to this incident and a man from Alabama being attacked very close to this beach...even when there was a security guard and security system....lends me to stay away from this beach and this side of the island...it is secluded...and secluded from the police as well. Be safe everyone. Read the local papers before you come and also FACEBOOK the turks and caicos police department so you can see the activity the police are involved in...although the online tci newspapers do a more enlightened view of police activity...the FACEBOOK page of the police makes major crimes seem like not a big deal....people getting shot ARE a big deal...so read both please.

Woo! After seeing the overrated Grace Bay, I finally found the reason why I came here. The colors of the ocean lets you speechless, cannot be captured with a camera. Here there’s no turism, the beach is extremely peaceful. I got the feeling of being in paradise! A must that cannot be missed.

Which hotel to book to use the Leeward beach with no driving?
Thank you in advance!

Can you have a fire in the beach?
Written 13 September 2019
The best way is to go through a company that does bonfires as it requires a license.

Where is this beach? Does it have a name? I assume near Grace Bay. i didn't find a beach named Leeward Beach. Thx,

Leeward Beach is actually split in three. There is Pelican Beach, Leeward Beach at the end point of the island and there's Sunset Beach.

Visiting in January and want to go. Staying at Alexandria is walking to this beach is probably out of the question. Could we ride bikes to this beach and access from road? We are fit people and would travel early in day before the big heat hits.
