If you want to observe the locals, then this is where you should go, named after the famous cricketer Brian Charles Lara. This promenade is in the heart of the city and is very busy at any time of the day or night.

Port of Spain is gritty. And it's exciting. This was a good walk through town where you can get a feel of the place. It leads to Independence Square which is alive with locals rushing here and there. Inviting but edgey.

The Brian Lara Promenade is a well designed walkway through the city [except for the fact that the light poles are located along the central axis and end up splitting the view.

Nice and beautiful place. The promenade it's well contructed and safe. I did'nt like the view of immerse vessels and the restaurants availeble in the area, except for the hotel's restaurant, really nice and expensive. Take care with the children by the seewall.

If you are interested in seeing the heart of Trinidad this is the place. There are several malls with the latest in clothing. Banks are readily available up to 2pm from Monday to Thursday Friday it is later. Street side vendors are seen hustling their products from clothes to market goods. The monumental cathedral which it's historic architecture is on... More

Due to it location in downtown Port of Spain, it is the best place to relax while shopping and take in the lovely view of its surroundings.

Independence Square and Brian Lara Promenade are the same. They begin on the western side at the boat shuttle to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral on the eastern side. There you will find most prominent businesses, banks and landmarks. You should stop to take in a game of chess while eating your doubles or any other local food.

Yes if you are a tourist then you can take a deep breath and venture here. I suggest you start Arthur Hyatt side and stop at the roundabout. It will NOT reflect what Trinidad is about however it will give a good idea of port of Spain life. Keep your personal items safe as pick pockets are rampant.
