This popular beach spot fulfills the fantasy of the ideal Caribbean beach, but is just as famous for the scenic rainforest drive that must be made to reach it.

Caught a minibus from town. Lovely beach not crowded. Construction work is going slowly (the way here, we're told). Toilets are below basic. Waited nearly an hour for a minibus for the return journey; a local asked an ambulance driver to give us a lift...More

Dropped in briefly after a tour of the north coast. Wonderful, palm fringed bay, very popular with locals and tourists alike.

Great place to spend a few hours. Beach is patrolled and there are plenty of options for food, drink and music. When we visited they were almost finished an upgrade of the beach facilities and parking areas - will be great when they have finished....More

Just go for the "Bake and Shark" but enjoy the BEACH! Maracas is the place to enjoy a sea bath, the ambiance is being updated which would make it even more inviting.

The different beaches in Trinidad all have their own unique charms, but Maracas is the most popular beach for a good reason. There's sufficient beachfront and lots of food options. There are temporary issues with parking right now, that's the only major problem.

The beach is wide but can get crowded at times with loud music. Lots of facilities such as bars and restaurants with very reasonable prices. Some vendors on the beach but they do not harass people. The sea is pretty rough overthere and you have...More

Would recommend for a day trip--great location for taking photos and grabbing a traditional Trinidadian meal along the shoreline.

It's not expensive, I would compare it to a motel from about 40 years ago. Bare bones. But it's right on the beach basically. You just cross the street. But it is run down. I stayed at the Hilton in POS and that was 3 stars... More
