Trinidad, famous for its' "River Limes" has various locations throughout the island where one can go for a soothing cool swim and cook Al Fresco with family and friends. One memorable location on our recent visit was the Lopinot Complex. An area lush with vegetation and flowers. The river has a small pool for swimmers (mainly children) but is deep... More

Never knew this beautiful tranquil place was right here! It started off with a wonderful account of the history of Lopinot by Mr. Martin Gomes who also discovered the Lopinot cave in 1961! He covered everything including showing us the Jail House where slaves were punished; a functioning Dirt Oven/ Chulha, musical instruments such as a handmade violin, cuatro, mandolin... More

We were pleasantly surprised by this restored plantation house and buildings in tiny Lopinot village. We crossed the covered bridge to the grounds which were shaded by colossal samaan trees. The historic house is a tiny museum with memorabilia from the past including parang (folk music) instruments, photos and furniture. The original dirt oven is still in use and the... More

After a drive up winding roads past Arouca (about 10 km of narrow hairpin turns) we had a lovely organic, cocoa infused meal at Café Mariposa in Lopinot Village. It is family owned and the chefs serenaded us with parang. We had arranged our meal choices in advance via email with Marcia, one of the chefs. There is a garden... More

The Lopinot Complex is great for out door activities such as Cricket, Football, Picnic etc. Churches and groups that love nature can also camp and have cook-outs at Lopinot Complex. Further, families and friends can spend their entire day at Lopinot, do walk along with your camera and take pictures.

Lopinot historical site is well maintained, clean and nice to visit. Picnic tables beneath trees and nice shrubs. Museum part was small but had a few interesting features like the snakes preserved in alcohol in bottles. Worth a visit.

Not only does Lopinot provide a look into life in Trinidad from many years ago, but also a great location for picnics or barbecues. Count Lopinot's house, which is the largest of the buildings, is in very good condition and contains many tools and utensils that were used back in the nineteenth century. There is also a clay oven, cocoa... More

Interesting complex set on a plateau in the village of Lopinot. Paints an interesting picture of what was in the past. The house and grounds are well maintained and give you a glimpse into life just under 200 years in Trinidad when sugar cane and cocoa exports ruled the day. Quiet, peaceful village. Bathrooms are available on site, and there's a... More
