A lovely place to see and meet real St Vincent people. We visited twice andcwent to the fruit and veg market. The quality of the produce and prices were fantastic.
Can pay in US dollars or Vincy dollars. Try to carry multiple low US dollar denominations if using US dollars.
We also wondered around other areas.
We had amazing icecream from by the market. Very cheap by UK standards. Mango and pineapple is to be recommended and the lady was very helpful

A lovely way to see the island from driving up to Fort Charlotte and the views over to other grenadine islands and then doing a walking tour of the botanical gardens with all its varied plant life plus a stop to see the parrots in a small aviary, lots of history in the fort along with pictures on the walls of one of the gun embrasure.

Just loved to stroll around at the market. Stop for a drink at the small local bars by the ocean! Great place to get some fresh fruits and vegetables!

A short walk from the cruise terminal and you are in another world, best visited on a Friday or Saturday when local vendors from all over the islands flock to Kingstown to sell their wares.Herbs and spices, fresh vegetables you may never have seen before, the ladies selling them are happy to explain how to cook and use them.
Also streets of the usual market wares and souvenir stalls.

Everything on St. Vincent seems a lot better than other Caribbean islands and their market is no exception. Fridays and Saturdays are the best and the usual range of food and other produce is widely sold. The fish market is near the bus terminal. It’s very busy but very good-humoured.

Was on my to do list. Enjoyed playing mas with Oxygen. Everything you need is at the market place. If you want a local experience you'll find it there. Food drink people entertainment.

Something is always going on here. It’s like the heart of the town. You can find almost anything here. I heard that you don’t even need a license to set up a small hustle here and sell some food or beers. However, if your selling hard liquor you need a license. It gave me great joy to support this market because these are hard working people trig to make something to support themselves and their families. When I was here it was carnival time so they had loud speakers pumping the newest tunes and people dancing all over the road. Great experience. I would advise anyone to come around Vincy Mas. It’s a great time of year filled with festivities and all night long parties.

This is also a great location because if you don’t have a number to a taxi you can catch one here.

In addition to all of the above stated, KFC is also nearby. They are open late and always packed because they are good. I’m talking about finger licking good. Trust me, you can finish a whole bucket of this stuff.

Saturday market on steroids, vegetables, fish, butchers, heaving crowds of people, maniacs with hand carts, loved the seller of brushes.

Kingstown is not the most exciting place in the Caribbean, but I still quite like it - not only for its sidewalks under arches, but also because it is one of the least touristy places around, despite the regular cruise ship stops here as well.

The central market is also nothing exciting, but since in St.Vincent many people still live off agriculture and not just tourism, there one can encounter some quite interesting products. I was especially surprised at the great variety of tubers, and here I learnt about Dasheen, Tania and Eddo (just three varieties of Taro), but also about Breadfruit and many other specialities.

But what will most stay in my mind was an encounter with the 'Redleg'-phenomenon, of which I had read before coming here, although I didn't really believe of encountering it. Nor on my previous stay in Barbados nor so far in St.Vincent was I ever confronted by beggars or aggressive merchants. The first person to ask me for money - right here in Kingstown market - had been a very miserable looking old, red-faced white man. The 'Redleg'-phenomenon immediately came to my mind and when I mentioned this word to the black market-woman, after the poor old man had left, she just nodded. Walking through Kingstown towards the Botanical Garden, I saw more of those 'Redlegs', which are below any class of black people here, and reading about them, the whole phenomenon apparently goes back to Cromwell and Ireland.

It all depends what one expects, but this market did not turn me on.
The island has a lot of water. However, the produce on the market is lacking both variety and quality.
The trinkets, all over the market, are all the same as on any other Caribbean island. The only difference is that this market is a touch more messy and dirty than some others.
A lot of food stands with local cooking. I did not try it. The places looked very non-hygenic.
