While on our visit to St. Vincent we were among the tour group, including children, that witnessed the killing of orca during a dolphin & whale watching excursion. You don't recover from that. While the government has put legislation forward to change the whaling practices I cannot recommend this island to anyone until the laws are officially changed. As for... More

The Vermont Trail was visited by Prince Harry in November 2016. He loved it and so did we!! Bring a raincoat as the weather changes quickly. The guide was amazing and you can tell he really loves the place. We learnt a lot about the flora and fauna. We saw a lot of very small bright coloured geckos with amazing... More

At the end of our 24-days-trip through the Southern Caribbean both my wife and me agreed that one of the best things we did, had been the hike on the Vermont Trail on St.Vincent. We were completely alone that day and a guide is definitely not necessary, unless one wants very detailed descriptions. Many things are labeled and there are... More

Go early in the morning and listen and look for birds. The earlier you make it to the Parrot Lookout (toward end of loop trail) the better chance you have of seeing and hearing the St Vincent Parrot. Look closely. Their yellow, blue, green colors are awesome to see when they fly! Bring a poncho or umbrella as you may... More

We had a beautiful hike along the trails. There is a lot of wild life and the jungle rainforest is amazing. Out of the way but worth the trip.

No need to go on an expensive organised tour. We took one of the many private buses/shared taxis from the bus station on the waterfront in Kingstown to Layou for EC$3 each but can hail them from anywhere along the Leeward Highway - just stand by the roadside where you can be seen and they will hoot to you as... The drive to the place was stunning as well. I just love visiting taking in sights, scents etc when visiting new places and this walk is very good for doing so. The walk is maybe not the best idea for people who are unfit as there are quite some steps and most of it is uphill. The guide was really... More

Not suitable for any one with walking problems. Very uneven ground and uphill. Could hear the parrots but only saw them fly overhead.

If you are on St. Vincent, do yourself a favor and walk this trail. You can take it at your own pace - it is self-guiding with very good informational plaques along the way to add depth to your experience. Should you feel the need, there are well placed rest stops along the way. Honestly, the day I walked the... More

Hot and humid. steep(ish) and slippery and everything you ever thought a rain forest should be. Lots of bird life, but all hidden in the leaves and branches...but you can hear them. We climbed to the parrot-spotting platform and might have caught a glimpse of disappearing parrot tail (which is apparently more than most reviewers have managed). Wee worth the... More
