Came here while following the Nevis heritage trail map. Interesting but a shame it's gone to wreck and ruin! Could be a good little stop while visiting if cleaned up and cut back. Nice cannons and view across the bay to Charlestown.

There is not much of anything here. Pretty much just a roadside sign and very little under kept ruins.

This took some finding as there were no signposts from Charlestown. Don't be put off by the derelict housing estate at the end of the track - the fort ruins are just behind it right on the water's edge. A few walls and some cannon are all that is left.

The fort is quite tricky to find, but once you see the blue heritage signs just follow these to the edge of the coast. Very disappointing to see the area so run down, overgrown and with derelict buildings. If you wonder around you will see parts of the old fort but most of it is eroded and broken away. Fantastic... We only came here as our excellent guide Ahmed (869 667 2169) brought us here as he was born on the island. There is not much to see except the ruins with a little effort could be improved. However the views were spectacular and you could see why the fort was built there with clear views of the sea to... More

This small fort played in integral part in history of not only Nevis, but in the eventual development of the British empire in the Caribbean. However a severe lack of money and resources, means that the ocean is eating away at parts of the grounds and there are artifacts here that are not being looked after or preserved...walking around, one... Fort Charles in Nevis (confusingly there is also a Fort Charles in St. Kitts), is the ruins of a colonial fort that was built on the top of a rocky point at the south end of Gallows Bay, south of the Charlestown, the capital of Nevis. Fort Charles was actively used in colonial times to guard Charlestown from attack by... More
