Going up the tower not for the faint hearted!

So we had a few minutes before boarding the boat, we decided to explore the town and went into the church. A police woman was sat there and mentioned we could go up the tower, so why not. It is probably not the best idea for you to do this activity if you cannot go up a ladder, as after... More

We could only see this establishment from the outside as it was closed. One of the reasons we wanted to go was to understand exactly what it was. Suffice it to say that the grounds were well crafted and cared for. The character and architecture of the building was impressive. For some reason there seemed to be a policeman about... More

Walked up to the church from the Cruise ship terminal and shopping area. reminiscent of many old English churches. War memorial and attractive stained glass. When I visited there were pink ribbons decorating the pew ends for breast cancer awareness.

This was part of our drive by tour and we were given the history of the building. We stopped to take pictures since the building is so beautiful.

Beautiful architecture, beautiful wall painting! Bigger then you expect! Easy to find, you can spot the tower above the city of Basseterre!

The exterior with the tall tower is quite attractive. The interior is kind of pretty with an interesting ceiling design. The altar and stained glass added to the appeal of this church. It is the nicest church in St. Kitts and worth visiting. It isn't a long walk from the Circus area and allows you to see what other parts... More

The massive 158-year old tower of St George's Parish Church is open for people to climb for a donation whenever there's a cruise ship in town. The reward for the climb is not just the superb view over Basseterre (St George's tower on its hill still seems the tallest building in town), but travelling through rooms of Victorian paraphernalia -... If you are by it stop and go in. It has a beautiful organ and some stain glass. No charge. I believe they take donations.

The church itself is quite interesting, but the tower is a must - entry is for a modest donation. It gives a superb view over Basseterre and the central mountains. We were lucky enough to visit on one of the rare days when Mt Liamuiga and the other peaks were all clear of cloud. The steps are quite steep, though,... More
