Owen Island is an easy kayak paddle over from Southern Cross Club resort. It was a very windy day, so we had to plan our route over the straight, but we made it with just a bit of extra effort. The only down-side was overly expensive kayak rental: $60 for 2 hours = excessive.

Owen Island is a wonderfull small island. We visited this for a afternoon for relaxation. Just lay in the water, took a zip and enjoy the stingrays who came to swim by. Thanks to our tourguide Joe Tourtist who took us there.

Grab a kayak, paddle board, or simply swim across the lagoon to this tranquil little island. Explore the shoreline for critters, snorkel, lay on the sandy beach. Easy excursion. Don't forget the sunscreen.

Owen Island is a very small, privately owned island just off the shore of Little Cayman. You can see Owen Island from the Sunset Cove Resort where we were staying. One day we kayaked over to Owen Island form the Sunset Cove Resort and spent a few hours on this small island. It was an awesome experience spending time on... More

Uninhabited island with lots of hermit crabs and shells. Snorkeling won't see fish or coral, just shells and crabs. However, worth the trip.

We came over from Southern Cross Club. We walked around the entire island and just enjoyed the quiet and solitude. Didn't see any fish or animals. Be sure to wear water shoes as the water is very rocky and slippery. Could bring a picnic lunch if desired. The water was a bit choppy the day we visited, so Southern Cross... More

Small, private island. Great views, but not much to do if you didn't bring shoes. Take shoes so you can explore the island. It is privately owned, but they allow you to go on the island as long as you take off what you bring.

You can snorkel to Owen Island in good weather from Southern Cross Club. They do not mind non-guests on the property. Sometimes there is current that can be tough for weaker swimmers. The island itself is small, with a beach area, but mostly mangroves. Watch out for the sea urchins in the shallows. Take a floatable cooler with a few... More

We rented kayaks from The Southern Cross and paddled over. You could actually swim over if you wanted but we brought along a picnic. What a cool quiet island. We spend time just floating in the cool water and then ended up walking around the whole island. Some seagrass and coral so wear your reef shoes as always in the... More
