One of the many highlights of our custom island tour was stopping at Doc Carey’s Black Coral Clinic where he hand makes black coral jewelry. In addition to his unique jewelry, Doc has a very large collection of ladies bikinis and thongs on display in what he calls the Bikini House. Doc also has a large collection of marbles. Definitely... I'm not sure about the date but it was several years ago and I have heard that Doc has died, but I don't know. Now, there is a shop at the cruise terminal that sells black coral and knew Doc. I feel I was lucky that I had the chance to meet Doc at his shop & hear his stories.... More

He has definitely lived a colorful life. Make sure to take a good look around his shop, there are funny stories, marbles, flags...oh and in case you miss... More

Doc Carey was very entertaining and had some great stories! He makes some fabulous jewelry and had great collections. I wouldn't recommend taking kids since there are panties hanging on the ceiling if you don't want them to see alot of thongs. This was a great stop for our group and we really enjoyed it.

The place is just a few doors down from my house and my house guests find it amusing and different. In addition to very good values on jewelry (way better than any shop), the owner is a character - full of stories and odd collections. Somehow the old Camanian house withstood hurricane Ivan when all the other neighbors were washed... More

My wife, our children (ages 11 and 18) and I stumbled in to "Doctor Carey's" shop and had our eyes widely opened. We came face to face with a man , "Doctor Carey" who held RADICAL views of the world. We came in interested in learning about his work, and left with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes. Carey... More

Spoke with him today after losing the pair of earrings I got back in 2006. My son, Cayman, picked them out for me to wear this morning while he did a major college scholarship presentation (on coral reef restoration). I took them off at some point and even drove the 1/2 hour back to the parking lot to look. Cried... More

As a marble collector I had to stop by the Black Coral Clinic. Pretty black coral. I bought a pair of earrings but didn't have cash so I told him we would come back the next day. When we returned not only did he have my earrings but he gave me a gift of 2 marbles! One of cayman ute... More

If one goes to Grand Cayman one of the "must do" things is go visit Dr. Carey at his shop. Great guy and great work. Carey has made many items for us over the twenty odd years we have known him. I mean every word of this. don't miss a visit with this man. We live in Tennessee.

This was fun and Dr Carey is a very interesting guy. Coral prices here are very reasonable. The shop is on south sound on the ocean side of the road. The garage where he sells the coral from had a sign on it I think "Bikini Beach". I loved the stingray pendants which were much cheaper than at the stores... More
