Beachcomber Villa, Mahoe Bay
5.0 of 5 bubblesAug 2022
Just returned from a fantastic vacation at ‘Beachcomber’ in Virgin Gorda. Located right on the secluded beach of Mahoe Bay and surrounded by perfectly manicured tropical gardens. You can step off the balcony onto the beach and be snorkeling on the immaculate reef in front of the house in a matter of moments. And when we say a secluded beach… we saw one other person the whole time we were there! When you need a break from the beach there is a shaded pavilion, a stunning large hammock and beautiful pool to enjoyThe villa has perfectly planned common spaces, large comfortable bedrooms and shady or sunny nooks to relax, so even our large party could all find their perfect spot without feeling on top of each other. The owner has really thought of everything, with all the amenities you could possibly need. Two coffee machines, top of the line appliances, a huge collection of board games, a large BBQ, water toys – more than enough to keep everyone happy and entertained. The booking process couldn’t have been easier, with Best of BVI. Trudi gave us all the information we needed, helpful suggestions and walked us though every step of the way. Heather, the property manager, was there to meet us when we arrived and spent the time to walk us through the property and answer all our questions. Heather continued to be in contact and was so helpful throughout our entire stay. We couldn’t recommend ‘Beachcomber’ more. All of our party had an amazing and relaxing time. You won’t want to leave!

I have visited this island 12 times now and always stay at the Mango Bay Resort, on Mahoe Bay. It is beautiful there! The bay is super and the waters are the turquoise you would expect.

Wonderful Bellamare!

Having only stayed on resort properties while visiting the BVI, we booked Bellamare for 10 days in July 2019 as the major resorts have yet to reopen on VG. Simply stated, Bellamare is a jewel and our new favorite place to stay in VG. Bellamare is well furnished with great attention to details. High quality furniture, linens, A/V, etc. provide you the sense that you truly are sharing someone’s home rather than just a rental property. The well-stocked and provisioned kitchen allowed us to cook most meals at home while enjoying dining on the expansive outdoor terrace. Mornings and evenings were spent on the terrace and multiple balconies enjoying the great view of Mahoe Bay. Speaking of Mahoe Bay, it too is amazing. Almost desolate at times, you truly felt you were staying at a five star resort with its sugar sand and uncrowded feel. We rented a Hobie Cat, kayak and paddle board from Blue Rush Watersports and the children were not for want with activities.
We learned that Bellamare was one of the first properties to be rebuilt at Mahoe Bay after Irma and the Owners’ care and pride for their property is obvious. We look forward to staying again next summer and for many years to come.

Most beautiful beach and the snorkeling is great. If I do one more trip in my lifetime it would be to Mahoe Beach, Virgin Gorda, BVI. The crystal blue water and the abundant sea life is right out your back door. Enjoy and relax in Nature's beauty, alcohol unnecessary to be intoxicatingly happy.

Mahoe bay is a relatively small bay on Virgin Gorda's west side. It is protected by two reefs from the prevailing waves. Suitable for bathers of all ages it has a gentle sloping entrance from the beach and is relatively shallow. Turtles and fish of all kinds inhabit the near in reef. Mahoe is surrounded by 17 villas such as Adagio Villa and Villa del Sole in two lines - one a set of beachfront and one a set of higher set villa about 30 feet up the hillside. All villas have pools and easy access to the beach.

A beautiful villa in a beautiful beach. God was thinking in paradise when created Virgin Gorda. We were a family of three couples and two teenagers and the Villa was perfect for our group. There was space for everyone and the beach, what can I say? One of the best in the world! Go!

To get to Mahoe Bay, you enter the Mango Bay Resort, park and walk to the beach. No one will bother you.
The beach is narrow but nice, and the resort landscaping is visible.
We primarily came to snorkel. When you enter from the beach, there is a fairly steep sand / small gravel drop off at the edge. This was a bit of a challenge getting out for short people.
Visibility wasn't bad, but there was some current that day. Most of the coral was dead and in pieces, but there were signs of some regrowth starting. We saw some common reef fish but not in great numbers. My favorite thing was bright yellow sea fans in addition to the usual purple and green.
As an aside, Mango Bay Resort looks like a nice place to stay.

The snorkelling there is absolutely incredible, the beach is - like any Virgin Gorda beach - sumptuous, and there are some beautiful villas overlooking the bay. I saw amazing fish whilst snorkelling, such as a huge yellow and turquoise puffer fish. The beach is great for relaxing, and it faces savannah bay to the oust, the dog islands to the north east and you can just make out tortola in the distance.

Enjoy!

Mahoe Bay is in the middle of Virgin Gorda and has one of the world's most beautiful beaches. I have stayed at the Mango Bay Resort, on Mahoe Bay many times and still am amazed by the views and beach here.
