We stopped in to climb the rocks and jump off into the pools - to mimic a photo taken years earlier. This spot is a gem - enjoyed a quiet morning on the beach with just a few of us there. Nice spot to swim and watch the sailboats all docked just past the rocks.

Spring Bay is a great beach adjacent to the Baths, but virtually empty. We experienced very good snorkeling on the protected side of the bay, and enjoyed sunset views from the beach. Spring Bay is accessible by car for guests staying at one of the Guavaberry Spring Bay rental cottages.

Spring Bay is steps over from the Baths, and is like a little mini Baths. The Baths can get pretty crowded, so if you're looking for the experience of the sheltered coves among the big boulders without the crowds, stop here. There's a picnic table and palm trees...and the whole beach to yourself.

Spring Bay, along with the other 2 connected and walk-able beaches/bays next to it (Trunk Bays) were literally the best collection of connected beaches I have been to in the world.
It’s not just the calm and perfectly clear water. It’s not just the amazing sandy bottoms when you walk in the water. But it’s all the interest and adventure that comes along with the scenery and the boulders and the little boulder enclosures along those 3 beaches.
We stayed at a property called Guavaberry that had direct access to the second part of Spring Bay and you could walk to Little Trunk and Big Trunk Bay from there.
We spent 4-5 days on those beaches and it never got old or boring.

Absolutely stunning beach on the island of Virgin Gorda. Much less crowded than the baths and just as nice. The sand is soft and clean and the water is crystal clear. The natural boulders create a safe swimming space that is comfortably enjoyed. No facilities and the road to get to it is a little rough but well worth the visit.

The best beaches on Virgin Gorda all lie along the west-facing coast of the southern portion of the island. Spring Bay is one of them. We may carp a bit about other aspects of vacationing on Virgin Gorda, but what has brought up back time and time again over the past (!!) almost 40 years is the utter timeless magic of this beach.
Spring Bay lies just to the north of the more famous (and infinitely more crowded) National Park known as the Baths. It's a fine, sweeping Bay adjacent to the next national park (Known to locals as "the crawl") which has many of the same characteristics as the Baths.
Spring Bay offers a real "sitting beach" (something The Baths really can't boast), great swimming, great snorkeling, great views west towards the Francis Drake Channel and Tortola, rocks to climb on, cover from the sun, and much more tranquility than it's overcrowded neighbor the Baths.
Part of the covered beach area is reserved for guests of a privately-run set of vacation homes (Guavaberry Spring Bay, where we stay every time we're there) but the waterline and the rest is accessible and just gorgeous.
Great for sunsets, too.
All the beaches along this stretch are accessible by foot, either for boaters who snorkel in, or people staying on the island who park in Spring Bay national park and walk in...(from the south going north: Spring Bay, the Crawl, Trunk Beach, and Valley Trunk Beach. Please note there is NO walking path from the Baths to Spring Bay; the only was to get "Round the corner" is to swim/snorkel or go out to the road and walk in through Spring Bay national park.

O.K., Spring Bay is gorgeous, no doubt about it. I don't need to repeat that there's rocks very similar to those at The Baths. However, if you want an even prettier beach, after enjoying Spring Bay, find the trail to Little Trunk Bay. As you come off the path from the parking lot of Spring Bay, you will be facing the water. To get to Little Trunk Bay, go to the right and walk through some trees, there's kind of a path. Don't walk in the water around the rocks like we did - it's slippery (I swore my husband was trying to kill me). You will come to a beach that looks almost identical to Spring Bay except there's no people climbing the rocks and foolishly jumping into waist-deep water. Continue walking the beach, still to your right. You are going to come to a path of sorts that leads to a rock with a rope to pull yourself up the rock. You will turn left through cactus (really), then through some trees and some more rocks then you come across the most beautiful sandy, palm-tree lined beach I've ever seen. There are no amenities here to speak of; although I hate back-packs, I'd recommend putting a towel & some water in one as you really need two hands when climbing the one rock - and going back down it. Please pack back out whatever you took in.

Beautiful place. We had heard that some of these beaches were known to have a polite pick pocket and he got $20 that I left in my shirt pocket - but put my shirt back into my net bag and did not steal my expensive sunglasses.... Don't leave anything on the beach when you snorkel.

This spot has all that The Baths has without the crowds. Bigger parking lot, more privacy, no snorkels banging into you, more areas of sandy beach for sunning. Take the locals word on this one people. Spend the $3 and walk around the Baths for an hour or so. Then go 200 yards back towards town and pull into this gorgeous, underused treasure.

Best variety of sea life around VG. Saw stingrays, barracuda, squid and school of Blue Tangs. Many other types of sea life here to many to mention.
Just around the bend from the baths so you can snorkel to the baths if you don't want to pay the fee to the baths or the long walk.

Can we go to spring bay after the baths? Like does it matter what oder we go to this?
Written 9 November 2019
No, it does not matter which order you do them. The challenge is getting between the two, because there is a rocky outcrop between the two, so you’ll probably have to swim unless you have a small boat. In addition, there is a small bathing beach between the two, but if you have a boat, you have to anchor outside the bouts because you cannot land there.

Speedy's ferry posted that Spring Bay was "devastated" during August 6 hurricane. Is this true?
We'll be there on October 20 and don't plan on going to the Baths. Thank you.

Island is in recovery mode....Speedy's ferry is operating but not at normal schedule - Their Facebook Page is a good resource. Best wishes...

How do I get to Spring Bay from The Baths? Is it a long walk or do you need to take a taxi?
Written 13 November 2016
You could walk it. From the parking area for the Baths it's less than half a mile to the parking area for Spring Bay. I believe it's the third left if you're leaving the Baths but there's an obvious sign. You can also get there with a little bit of swimming by water. There is only one bay/beach between Spring Bay and the Baths.

We will be there in Jan. and want to go to Spring Bay due being an older couple and not wanting to climb through the Baths. We understand there are no "facilities" at Spring Bay, so where is the nearest restroom? Is the drop-off location for taxis at an area where we can choose to either go to Spring Bay or the Baths or are there separate routes to get to these places? Thank you.
Written 12 October 2016
If our cruise tour drop off & pick-up is at The Top of the Baths restaurant, is there a path to Spring Bay from there? Where are the restrooms for Spring Bay, on site or for patrons of the restaurant? Thank you.
Written 20 September 2016
No. There is no path between the Baths and Spring Bay. If you can climb rocks and are in good physical shape, you may be able to do it, but most people can not. You have two alternatives: 1) swim (doable), or 2) exit through the public path by the Crawl, not Guavaberry (it's private property)
There are NO public restrooms at spring bay, and no restaurant.

Could someone please tell me where would the closest overnight mooring ball would be?
Written 7 February 2016
Are you allowed to take your dinghy into shore here or is it like at The Baths where you moor then swim into shore?
Thanks,
Ginny

How do we get to Spring Bay from St. Thomas? What days do the Cruise ships come?
Written 10 February 2015
Take the ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay,St John. Then you must take the ferry from Cruz Bay to VG.

They take credit cards at the Baths because there are stores and a place to eat there and bathroom facilities.
There is no place to use a credit card at Spring Bay. There is sun, sand, water and a few picnic tables. No place to buy anything and no bathroom facilities.
This is part of magic of the place. Bring a cooler with some sandwiches and something to drink and you are in heaven....Al
