Fast but not dependable

Arrive at least 30 minutes early. Give yourself lots of time as they leave when they want. There is customs on each side and it doesn't move quickly.

We arrived at the ferry dock an hour early, but the ferry wasn't there. Nor was there anybody at the desk. When I called the supplied number, nobody answered, and I realized the phone was ringing at the abandoned desk! We gave up and squeezed onto another company's ferry, thereby saving the first night of our vacation.

Ferry was fast, clean and very modern. Boat was new; and compared to competition much nicer. Would use this service over others.

On time, clean and it got us where we wanted to go. Can't say much bad about that. On our trip outbound it was pretty wavy but the boat handled it well...it just wasn't the smoothest ride I've ever had but they can't control that at the ferry service! The return leg of the trip was much nicer.

I rode Smiths Ferry several times on my visits to Tortola. They make sure they take care of their customers and give you a great ride and view on the way over to Tortola.

A bit chaotic as people are all around and you are not sure where to go or who to give your luggage to. Overall though once you get by the bit of chaos it's an easy trip and fine service.

We have taken the Bomba Charger from St Thomas to Sopers' Hole and back for each of the last 3 years. It seems to be getting better organized and executed each year, and well integrated with the two government immigration services.

I rode Native Son from St Thomas to Tortola and Smiths back so I was able to compare the two. Based on my limited experience, I would recommend: 1) don't book in advance, perhaps unless you know you are going at a very busy time and 2) the native son ferry boat was much larger and had an open air... Used this ferry line to get in and out of Tortola last week (March 18-23, 2017) from and to St Thomas. My experience when I booked the ticket was that it was a very professional company. However, I have had the worst experience ever. On my way back, the ferry left 10 minutes before the announced time of departure. I... More

Due to weather we had to change flights and ferry times, so we had to change to a different ferry company. I politely ask if a refund at the Road Town office. The woman immediately started to rudely lecture me and did all she could to be nasty and unhelpful. I just quietly listened to her. I did not push.... More
