Impressive gateway!

We stopped at the Government House during our tour around St Lucia. There are a set of beautiful ornamental gates and a view of the house - access is not allowed.

Our driver said that he knows perfect spot up in the hills, where to have great photos of Castries, including our Cruise Ship. On our way we drove by this Government House. Of course we didn't get in, but House itself and Main Gate looks nice, so worth of pic

The first Government House that was built on this site was destroyed by a hurricane in 1817, before its completion. A second house, built of timber, was completed on the same spot in 1819. This house fell into disrepair, and was abandoned by 1865. Government House then relocated to a nearby disused military barracks. Construction of the present brick-built Government... More

I'm not sure what else to expect, but we stopped off at Government House in St Lucia overlooking Castries, and pretty much about all we saw was a big, albeit impressive, gate, with the house in the background. I guess it is Government House afterall; presumably fully operational, so I'm sure what kind of tourist access is feasible. Anyway,we stopped... More

We saw this on a tour of the island. Nice to see, but there really isn't much there. Take a couple pictures and move on.

On the hillside near the capital, Castries. Nice views. Sadly, our tour just stopped outside the gates. A gated property with a big old colonial style house behind. Imagine that it is still occupied by the Governor so guessing no tours of the inside are available. Don't, therefore, go along thinking you'll get inside. A peek through the gates is... More

Similar to the other review here -- We too just did a quick pass by when we went on one of our tours. There isn't anything great here -- its just a gated property with a big White House. If there are tours to go inside it -- well that could be nice, but i'd skip this entirely.

The Governors house is situated off the main road just outside of the capital Castries. The building is beautiful and situated in its own grounds. You can't go in but worth a stop for a photo

This official house can be seen when entering and leaving the capital city of Castries. It was pointed out to me several times while on tours, or driving with taxi drivers, or driving with locals. Each time I saw this government structure, it was like looking at a Victorian timepiece. A historical landmark to see in passing or close up.
