The "Cot" located also in the Centre Hills. The Hike starts above

the

National Trust Compound. Highlights include the ruins of "The Cot",

the one

time summer cottage of the influential Sturge Family. A hike through the

lush vegetation also affords breathtaking views of the villages below

including some of the Exclusion Zone. A duck pond is located further along

the trail.

Great trail

There are some steep areas but overall a great trail with GREAT VIEWS AND VISTAS! I would say it is a medium level trail.

We parked at the sign and walked 20 minutes up the hill. It was a road - nice views - lots to see - but not really a trail. When we hit the real 'start' of the trail the map showed us going directly through a farm with dogs tied up in the road. Either somebody doesn't like visitors or... More

We were given pretty useless information (including a map) by the Tourist Board (which I have reviewed elsewhere). The walk is badly sign-posted from the start (after going up the first steep hill, you must not take the road left, but continue straight on along the dirt track). It then goes up for about 40 minutes - interesting with the... More

Quite a hike to get to the start of the trail, but worth it. Hire a guide! It's easy to get lost as the trails are not well marked.

The Sturgeon Family built a summer retreat in the hills above Salem, Montserrat. The hike takes you past lovely plantation groves of coconut, banana and other tropical vegetation. Fabulous views along the way!

Fairly easy trail. Definitely one that is marked well. Nice walk through lush foliage. Out and back on the same trail.

The walk up to the map was an easy walk. We got to the top where the map was, went through the field to another trail then the markers stopped. We kept going because it was so beautiful, but I'm not sure what trail we were on. It lead us to a spring which was part of the municiple water... More

We drove up to the Cot as the weather wasnt great! We were told after that we should have stopped and walked ahhhh well it was quicker and dryer to drive!!! Keep going is all I can suggest as it takes quite a while to get up there and there are some pretty dodgy water run offs in the road... More

Again, a steep climb and not "light" as per trail map but a very enjoyable walk all the same. Great views all across the island to Plymouth on way down.

Stay on the main road going up from the College, follow it right to the end and don't go into the field on the left with the trail map.
