We spent an hour and a half at La Savane des Esclaves, which was time well spent learning about the terrible experience encountered by those men and women who were forcibly taken from West Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries to work on the...More

Amazing collection of the history of the native Martinique people and the slaves that were brought to replace them once they were killed off. A timely reminder about this dark part of our history

This truly is the place to be reminded of the horrors of the historical past, in understanding more deeply the present. An open air museum dedicated to the history of the Slave Trade in Martinique and the Caribbean. It's moving and can be emotional reading...More

A very interesting and informative way to learn of the slave trade as well as post slave era in the French West Indies. 1 hour is plenty of time.

One of the coolest place visited in Martinique. Very nice open air musseum, the owner is very very friendly and he can talk to you hours, explain everything about his ancestors. Kids are also welcome.
